I purchased a 2005 Prius. Had no issues with it and when I handed over to daughter, she got the red triangle and dash lights on, she was able to drive it home. When I got it I checked the hybrid cells and they were all in the 7.5 range. I’ve already drained the fuel tank and added water treatment and new fuel and fuel cap because it was missing a fuel cap. I’ve replaced the 12 volt battery, PCV, and plugs. Oil is at good level. I’ve attempted to turn her over with carb spray. It’ll turn over, but won’t stay on without the spray. Latest check now shows the hybrid cells at 7.5-7.6 minus a couple in the sixes and 1 at 4.5 I’m at a loss. Any help thanks

    Welcome to PriusChat!!

Most modern vehicles have an OBD2 port, and when using an OBD2 reader you can extract the stored DTCs from the ECUs.

Knowing which DTCs (and subcodes if available) can help with diagnosing potential issues quicker.

Many parts stores will offer a free OBD2 scan, though not all scanners are toyota hybrid compatible.

Please post any known DTCs here for further assistance.

Indeed! Please read the codes before you run down the traction battery too far trying to start it.

How many miles and length of ownership?
It appears you have a bad HV battery, with one or more modules that have now failed. Not expensive or difficult, if you can DIY.

The catchall DTC would be P0A80, but you will have other DTCs that will point toward the failed modules.

There could be additional DTC and possibly INFs, but you will have to read them with an OBD2 scanner to know for sure.

Why is everybody worrying about the batteries.......when this obviously is a fuel delivery problem ?
Or am I missing something ??

Because the OP stated that one block was reading 4.5 V.

But I agree with you, it sounds like a fuel delivery problem is in the mix.

Who would have thought a car could have two problems at once?
