Hi all, first post here so please forgive me if I'm braking cardinal rules and/or ediquite. I'm in the market for a gen2 Prius and plan to add a plug in kit as a fun project on the side... But if I can kill 2 birds with one stone and someone on here is looking to sell theirs with a kit already in it, with the kit working or not, I'd really love to get in contact with you. I'm based here in the states(CA) and willing to travel to pick up the car as long as it runs good enough to get me back home. I think I'd prefer an a123 Hymption system as I already have a ton of the cells they used for that kit laying around from various electric skateboard projects.... But begers can't be choosers

Btw, theI "I already have a ton of the cells they used for that kit" is a terrible assumption on my part. I was told by some dude on Reddit that they used A123 systems ANR26650 M1b cells. If it's true, great as I have a few. But it does seem weird they would use such a small cell, the battery configuration would be wonky in order to get enough together for 5kwh.

Thanks!! If I remember correctly, the cell designation has the size in it, the ANR26650 I speak of has a size of 26mm by 65mm. Though I could be wrong, that's just what I remember. What do you mean by "Prius cells"? The actual cells in the OEM Prius battery? Because if so, that's not exactly what I'm talking about but very close. There was a number of aftermarket kits one could get a while ago to convert your gen 2 Prius into a plug in Hybrid. These kits from what I understand typically used LiFePo4(or other li-ion chemistry) battery packs and some other governing electronics to charge the stock hybrid battery(a few replaced it entirely), and some sort of OEM trick to put the car into a temporary pure electric mode. I'm seeking out someone with a gen 2 Prius that may already have a kit in it that is or isn't working. As I'd love to get a Prius and I think the plug in kit would be a funny hobby to tinker with and see if I could get working or not.

I have a 2009 with a HyMotion kit in it.

tinkering with it to see if I can bring it back online. Getting the 11 blinks, tried charging today but rear lights didn’t stay on during charge. Lotta tunnels to dive down here.
    I’ll keep you posted.

There is a 2005 Prius with the 5k Hymotion kit for sale in the Seattle area right now, if you're still shopping - check the SEVA mailing list archives in the last week for more info.
