The All-new, and I quote"Biggest-badass truck on the planet" Toyota tundra will be a sales flop for the third time and stall sales momentum fo rother products. I guess we will have to wait a year to see if I am right. It will be an interesting year.

Thank you DOC for speaking for all the members of PC. Let's see have you ever read or commented on any articles pertaining to topics other than the Prius? Let me check...... Maybe its just my anti-Toyota agenda. Does that mean you have a pro-Toyota agenda?

Since this is in Fred's, I have no problem with the post. I would like to know why you claim this, though. Please explain to me -- someone who just owns a Prius & knows very little about cars -- why the Tundra will flop and how that will stall momentum for other products.

Please be explicit. There's no time limit and you can use as many blue books as necessary.

    You may begin.

The full-size pickup market is the most-loyal auto market there is. Toyota needed a major break-through in some way to really have an impact. The new-Tundra is not the truck to do that. Especially Chevy and GMC have new trucks coming out that are not only superior trucks to the new Tundra, but will have major marketing offenses(Chevy) to blunt Toyota's efforts. I was nervous about Toyota's new truck, but after really having a complete tour and look at the new-Tundra, I think Toyota will hit a brick wall with their Tundra. i think there may be something to the three strikes and your out thing in this case(3rd generation Tundra truck)

As far as overall Toyota sales, retail automotive is very momentum based. GM is turning itself back into the greatest automotive company in the world and that coupled with Toyota's coming Tundra debacle(new plant in Texas), their new-found quality and recall problems will stall Toyota's sales momentum. The media will smell a little blood and go into over-analyzing, over-crucifying mode and it will finally be Toyota's turn. Just a well-educated hunch we will see over the next year.

I think it will do pretty well. Or perhaps not. Kind of moot here on Prius Chat, though, like I wasn't on the waiting list for a Prius because Tundras allegedly suck or something. Oh wait, what's that in the Octet garage next to the red Prius? Yes, the 3rd 2000 Tundra sold by Anderson in Raleigh NC? I'm real attached to it, and at 7 years old and 80,000 miles, it drives, looks, and runs like new... If you are seriously wanting to diss Tundras, please go on over to tundrasolutions.com and have your trollish ways seriously addressed.

Glad to have your valuable opinion on Tundras. Maybe you could trade it for a Honda truck next time. Another great truck.

You pays your money and you takes your chances. I've owned several Fords, and been more or less pleased, the one Chevy experience (S-10 with the infamous 2.8 dissolving camshaft motor) soured me on the brand. I'd be driving an F-150 still now probably, but a certain Ford dealer played "hide the keys" with me when I went to get my trade in appraised, and a month or so later, I heard about this new truck from Toyota that has this Lexus V8 in it. Being built in Indiana sealed the deal.

    1st Generation Tundra--major disappointment

    2nd Generation Tundra-- major disappointment

    3rd Generation Tundra--major disappointment

A major miss on the Tundra this time will be impossible for Toyota to hide from, spending 100 million to launch. Also has the possiblity to expose/reinforce the fact Toyota is a foreign company and the profits do not stay in this country. Toyota is scared to death of that happening.

Where exactly do you get that the tundra was a dissapointment? Everyone I know that has them would never sell it.. It will outpull anything else out there as far as towing.
In case you didn't know.... Everybody knows Toyota is a Japanese Company...DUH... mine came straight from the port in Jacksonville,Florida, I sure didn't think they shipped by sea from the Continental US.
And Actually if you do your homework, toyota has raised prices in recent years to help the US competitors. There are tons of articles out there explaining how Toyota's President stated that it is not good for the US Automakers to faulter.
Toyota could lower their prices easily and wipe out some of the US competition.
Also, did you not know that the Camry has been the best selling in its class many years now? And alot of those are built in the USA.
IT IS ABOUT QUALITY FOR ME!!
Toyota = VERY HIGH QUALITY..... Just come look at my 97 4runner with 213,000 miles and only on its third set of tires and cold A/C and believe it or not.... still has the original spark plugs, and still gets 21 MPG (which compared to my Prius is terrible, but compared to other SUV's is stellar).

You buy what you want, and I will do the same...
Don't come at us with your silly anti-Toyota crap!

Major sales disappointment. Tundra has been a major sales disapppointment to Toyota.

So Toyota raises prices to help US automakers. You must be a real economic expert. Know anything about the Japanese government's manipulation of the yen/dollar and pricing? Didn't think so. I am glad you heard Toyota's president's stance about US competitors. I know there will be at least a few of you PC'ers who will get a good chuckle reading AUART's repetition of that nice little quote. Toyota is taking it easy on the US Auto companies because Toyota's chief publicly stated so! Yikes! When did you last buy a bridge?
