This video does show the front brakes being bled twice by pumping techstream is not being used if I am correct

    Will this method be okay?

I just watched that video and it didn't show bleeding the non-failsafe front circuit at all, only the part that's bled by manually stroking the pedal. It didn't seem like the presenter even knew there was anything else involved.

Now, that could be ok if the only reason for the job is to change fluid (which is what that video was about). If there's no air needing to be bled out, and you're careful not to let the reservoir empty and suck any in, then it won't matter much if some of the passages aren't getting "bled". There will be a little bit of older fluid left there, but fluid doesn't age hard in a Prius anyway (as a moment with a test strip will show you), so it's all good.

On the other hand, if you wanted to bleed the system because you really believed air was in it, what that video showed would not be a complete job.

I did all this several times and the problem came on step 3 and 7
I could not get the car to go into neutral
    Maybe I am missing something
    Is techstream equipment expensive ?

I haven't done this before, but under normal conditions you have to hold the shift knob in neutral for about a second before the car accepts it. Perhaps that holds true here, too?

Did that held it there for 3 or 4 seconds and it did not go into neutral
The Nutz about Boltz video showed in going into N easily

You have to step on the brake pedal while pushing the shifter to Neutral. Maybe that's the problem? (See my "more literal" version.)

Another gotcha: parking brake must be on, before you even start.

The video or the written instruction in the repair manual did not specify the manual parking brake to start (not the e brake) and neither of them said anything about pressing the brake and going into neutral at the same time
Question Is the foot on or off the brake when you press the ebrake button?
    Thanks

    Persevere man.

The video mentions setting the parking brake being set (aka E-Brake, aka emergency brake), at around 0:30. The pedal to the left of the brake pedal.

The Repair Manual excerpt I posted also stipulated to set it. My "literal" instruction also says to set it.

And to shift to Neutral you need to push the brake pedal, or it won't happen. The Repair Manual instruction does not say it (just assumes you know) but the video does say, and my "literal" instruction also says.

Ensure you're doing both those things, and you should be ok.

    Again, my "literal" instruction:

    1. Ensure parking brake is set, then within one minute:
    2. Push start button twice without foot on brake.
    3. Depress brake pedal and shift to N.
4.Depress brake pedal 8 times within 5 seconds.
    5. Push park button.
    6. Depress brake pedal 8 times within 5 seconds.
    7. Depress brake pedal and shift to N.
    8. Depress brake pedal 8 times within 5 seconds.
    9. Push park button.
    10. Confirm invalid mode achieved by brake warning light blinking.

Okay it seems you are right on the e brake point the video mentions e brake and the manual mentions parking brake I was a bit confused because of the term e brake I was assuming that means electronically engaged brake not emergency brake (foot powered brake) thanks for the clarification my mistake (I did engage the emergency brake before starting the procedure) . In the video he presses the regular brake first and while holding it goes to neutral I did that and it would not go So I may have missed a step somewhere or something

If you depress the brake pedal and it will not go into Neutral, maybe you've only got the the car in accessory, not on.

    The 3 stages:

accessory: one push of start button without foot on brake
on: two pushes of start button without foot on brake <you want this one
ready: one push of start button with foot on brake

More accurate: to shift out of Park you need to be pushing the brake pedal. Basically for safety, in normal operation.

Fully engage parking brake, press & hold brake pedal firmly and move gear shifter to neutral and hold til 'N' has the rounded square confirmed with single beep.

Rule of thumb: if you can't achieve invalid mode, maybe take it to the dealership for brake fluid replacement?

FWIW, last time I was hitting the wall too: it was that pesky parking brake needing to be set. Did the procedure about 4 times to no avail, finally twigged. It would be nice if the car would give you a messaage like:

"you did very good, but forgot about the parking brake. care to try again..."

According to the protocol It's 1 engage the emergency brake 2 Press the start button twice with foot off the brake I did that and my dash array looked the same as nutz about boltz video . I hear Nutz about boltz lives in my area maybe I could get him or them to show me I might be doing something wrong

    Yup. Then:

Depress brake pedal, then move shifter to Neutral, hold it there a sec.

What happens? It stays in Park?
