Oh I get it, 3 strikes and we're out right? haha.. good one.

He does have a point since the Titan and the Ridgeline aren't doing too well.

However, I do think that this Tundra (gas, diesel and hybrid) will be better. Will it fail? I don't know. Will it succeed? It depends on your definition. To be honest, the previous Tundra, while sorta good looking wasn't as brash and as out there as the Ram or the F-series. This one seems to be a step up. Me thinks you're just worried and trying to get assurance.

They might not be selling half a million, but the 100K they do sell are making a dent in someone's sales. I love my Tundra. It's the first truck I've felt like keeping more than 5 years in a long long time, so if I'd bought that F-150 in 1999, I'd have probably traded it in by now. I should probably start a thread about car dealer stupidity, because this Ford dealer tried to pull one of those low class "make them hang around as long as possible and they'll be more likely to deal" at the showroom by "losing" my keys after the trade in manager drove our truck. It irritiated us enough that we ended up not trading with them.

At least GM knows a good thing when they see it, and proudly sells Toyota Matrix's under the Pontiac label, but passing a Subaru off as a Saab seems like a heresy.

sorry, but I couldn't care less about trucks. sports cars, interesting sedans, hybrids, kit cars, electrics, motorcycles, yes. trucks are ... trucks.

I was worried until I actually saw what the new tundra has to offer, and now I feel much better. The Tundra had to be a Grand Slam Home Run to lure truck buyers in numbers and it is a bunt single at best. It is fun to see Toyota actaully worried for a change. ;)

sir, a year ago you were here making all these claims and told us how in a year we'll see how Toyota will drop to the bottom. It's been a year, I don't see anything what you have claimed happening.
Are you just trying to make yourself feel better?

Worried? Toyota? Too funny... As if a company could actually sit around and wring their hands. When I think of worried, I think of a car company I just saw on TV with a commercial that shows all their cars being raptured up in the sky because they now offer a 100k drivetrain warranty like Kia and Hyundai. Oh wait, but that's a Chevy getting all floaty on my TV tube? Oh yeah, a 100K warranty, that's gonna get those Chevy Cobol's moving off the lots.

First of all, I was not even on here a year ago. Second of all, you have only been a member since February, so nice try.

When I first began posting on PC all news concerning GM and Ford was bad. News is still bad about Ford, but now I am stating that over the next year the news will continue to worsen for Toyota. Remember that less than 30 years ago the US govt was discussing breaking up GM. Toyota is about to get theirs!

Actually Cobalt sales are ;) way up! It is actually the Prius sales that are off YTD. Check your facts.

Damn it was 11 months ago, you think you can pull it off in a month?
What makes you think that I had to be registered to read your "smoke and mirrors" tread? Nice try!

See, I just don't get this. Why would the average consumer who's looking for a sedan give two s**ts about the trucks? They won't.

If they're loyal to a company, they'll most likely buy from that company regardless. For example, my dad has bought Chrysler, Dodge & Plymouth products almost exclusively. He works for Mack Trucks, which is owned by Volvo and could get a Volvo for a good price. But he drives a 300M.

If they're like me, when it's time for a car they grab the annual auto issue of Consumer Reports and look at the reliability ratings. I own an Accord & a Prius because both Honda & Toyota consistently show red circles 10 years out for used cars. That's what I care about. I don't care whether another car issued by the company doesn't sell well.

Its happening right now. Just beginning. Toyota will take it on the chin over the next year. Recalls, quality glitches, mpg less than perceptions, over-growing their dealers ability to service the customers and the fact that Toyota IS a foreign company is beginning to align with all of the job cuts taking place.

I agree with you to an extent, but automotive retail has become a business of momentum.

My smoke and mirrors thread was about Toyota using the Prius to give themselves a green image while building larger, more expensive and less green vehicles every year.

so malorn, what is the reason for you telling all of us this? Can we just all wait and see what happens? I really don't care what happens. You seem to be pooping your pants constantly. So if it is starting already then it is, so? What is your point? Is your point to convert me? What is it? Are you making yourself feel better? I don't know if it is starting or not. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. What's your point in regards to posting this here? What is it? Spell it out.

Just a quick question. Everything I've read refers to the 2007 as the 2nd Generation Tundra (see "Toyota Dedicated to Successful Launch of Second Generation Tundra")

Where's this 3rd Generation stuff coming from?

I love the automobile business and am fascinated by some of the threads on here. I originally came on here because I was tired of hearing about the Prius. I have a group of associates who all own Priuses mostly just so they can say they are helping the earth, but when many of them really ae going to go somewhere of any distance they fuel up their Escalades and Suburbans and travel in comfort. If they are going to an environmental conference they always take the Prius.

I do have to admit there are many of you PC'ers who I respect and are trying to find a better way to use resources not just hiding behind your Prius. I just have a different way to get to the same goal of ultimately using less resources.

I apologize. The Tundra replaced the T100 which was Toyota first generation of full-size trucks. 3rd generation full-size truck, 2nd generation tundra.

From the inner recesses of a mosquito mind that can only find happiness by buzzing at the screen door going "Toyota bad, GM good!". What ever. I'm loving the Prius. Good products. Good dealer support, when I've needed it. What's that buzzing sound over by the screen door again?

My family has been dealers for generations. I really don't want to say more than that. Dealerships in the midwest.

Not dealership associates. I am on a few boards including a couple environmental foundation boards.
