Four of us met today at Rebound Garage outside of Portland. We got two full intake manifold clean-outs and OCC installs done.

That was fun today guys! Nice meeting you all, Marshall, Dillon and Josh. I had never done this on my Prius but I had on my 2009 Corolla. It's a similar deal but different. The Prius has a lot more crap to take off but it wasn't bad. I had to remove the intake manifold to get to the PCV valve and replace it. Then I was able route new tubing for the catch can. With the intake manifold off I had to clean it. The crude that gets passed through a PCV valve to the intake of any car can make the intake pretty gross and mine was no exception. I couldn’t believe the crap that came out of it . I can see why Prius owners see a extra few MPG after doing this. Now that is done and the oil catch can will keep it clean from this point forward. I was hoping to clean out the EGR valve as that also gets plugged up but ran out of time. I’ll have to tackle that one of these days. I have several other things that I need to do now that it has 115k miles. New spark plugs, oil change, CVT fluid change, inverter coolant change and engine coolant change. Those things will have to wait for another day. :);)

    I've always been partial to the 1st Gen MR2. I've owned a 86 N/A, 88 S/C that was stolen and never recovered.and my current 89 S/C.

An update on my Prius. During installation of the OCC I didn't have a permanent solution on how to mount it. I went to the hardware store and bought several metal braces to see if I could come up with something. What I finally did was so simple it even surprised me. I ended up using a small "L" shaped bracket and it fit perfectly. I then secured it with a zip tie even though it didn't move at all. To empty it I'll just snip the zip tie and put on a new one.

Putting things together I also got a bolt for the air box crossed threaded and I was able to clean the bolt and threads up with a tap and die so it's all good now. fullsizeoutput_26e5.jpeg fullsizeoutput_26e6.jpeg

Make a video? Only if it’s a day of the week ending in “-day”.
