Aw, shucks, Doc. I'm hurt. Why you gotta go hatin' on me like that? I was all set to add you to my "Buddy List" & everything.

I see we're back to calling people "anti-America". Well played. I bow to your superior debating tactics.

Since you're so big on having everyone prove things, here's a challege for you. Using nothing but the words I've posted, prove that I agree with either of their speeches. Feel free to use quotes from either speech if it will help you. Take your time. You're gonna need it. 'Cause I don't think you can do it. You're a smart guy ... you up for the challenge?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dbermanmd @ Sep 22 2006, 01:10 PM) </div>
Neither. But thanks for asking.

I'd still like to know what you thought was "verbally abusive & disrespectful" about Ahmadinejad's speech. I can read the speech upside down & sideways, but I'll never be able to get inside your head. You're the only one who can explain it to me. Are you up for some reasonable discussion with resorting to rhetoric or telling me what I think?

I support responses like Charlie Rangold...a' la "Don't come into my country and diss my leader...that's my job!!!" well said.

I will tell you this much...I don't care how cheap Citgo gas goes, I will not buy it....and if I were eligible for his cheap heating oil, I would not touch it either. (BTW, Citgo gas tends to be cheapest around here)

I don't restrict "Democrat leaders" to just the elected ones. I embrace any "spokeman" that has a big following or support of democrats. So, that being said, Bush has been called a terrorist, a bigger threat than Al-Quaeda, a liar (which, BTW, to me, is one of the worst insults you can throw) and the greatest threat to peace on this planet. It is just as bad, if not worse, than being called a devel.

That is a very good point....I have long stated that rational discourse is a dying art in America.

So can I hold republicans responsible for anything a republican "spokesperson" that has a big republican following says? I believe Ms. Coulter and Mr. Limbaugh have said some doozies in their time.

That's a pretty ridiculous policy. If I call myself a Christian and say that the Pope is a murderer then Muslims should accept that as the policy of the Christianity.

short answer questions for the OP:

1. define anti-american, and not in terms of whether or not the person/group in question supports the president.

2. do md's write all chickenscratch-like to hide the fact that they can't spell? (ahem, it's "speeches")

I would agree with you here. Some people are so incredibly sensitive to the slightest criticism, and utterly deaf to any point of view other than their own, that an intelligent, respectful conversation is almost impossible. "Some people" are better than others, not naming any names.

Yes, Limbaugh and Coulter would fit my definition of spokesman for the Republicans or Conservatives.....just not the government.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(efusco @ Sep 22 2006, 03:21 PM) </div>

No...sorry to burst your bubble, but you do not have a large following. I said you had to be supported or followed by a latge number.

my take, chavez not only did something highly inappropriate (time, place, venue), he did something that's going to be of detriment to him. He'll be held accountable for his actions by the UN hopefully. On the other hand, I would prefer a leader from another country using only verbal assaults on our leader instead of launching missiles, sending troops and overthrowing our government because they don't believe in our ideology, believe we're a threat and that we're harboring weapons of mass destruction.

Having read the Williams/Ahmadinejad transcript, I think that was the Iranian President's point: Why should the US get to decide - by threats of bombing countries back into the stone age - who gets to use nuclear power?

That was definitely what he was asking. And it's a fair question for any country to ask, regardless of the sanity of their leaders. Most of the rest of the world sees the US as the biggest bully on the block. And in many ways we are. We can relish being the bully and forcing our view of democracy on the world, or we can use it as an example of what country can become.

Of course questions like Ahmadinejad's have been known to cause dobermans to go rabid.

...and who do you feel more ideologically alike with, Bill or Hillary Clinton??? Hmmmmm? Talk about sophomoric logic!!! I guess since george jr. is a liar, cheat, drunk and drug addict that means all neocons are too. It only stands to reason, using your reasoning powers. Oh, and all doctors too!!! (apologies to Evan for lumping him with such scum.) sarcasm off, point holds true.

OOPS! My bad! I'll see your "FORMER" and raise you a legacy student "gentlemen's C" graduate (meaning flunkee except for daddy's money), AWOL national guard appointee, coup d'etat beneficiary who squandered his nation's bugget surplus and worldly goodwill for generations to come, and all around republican self-centered prick AKA 'leader of the pack'.

You know, I feel like I spoke very harshly about the doc. I didn't realize he writes here because he had to. Probably has no experience in this kind of thing at all.

He wrote that he contributes here as "community service."

Anybody got an idea of how long his sentence is? He must have done something pretty bad to have to put this much time into it. It sure beats being on a road crew though.......

I find it ironic when a self-appointed unpaid spokesman for the Bush administration uses the term "useful idiot".

Regardless of how I feel about Bush I think it's way out of line for anyone to come to our country and totally disrespect our President. I think Chavez is a punk who has no class.

I would show respect regardless of what Bush says or does that I absolutely disagree with. To me it's like someone coming to my home and insulting me in my own house. As to what Bush said about Chavez- Both of them should stop the name calling. It makes them look stupid at best.
