I have a 2010 Toyota Prius with roughly 218,000 miles that are mainly highway miles. I have recently had a vibration that occurs when the main engine is turned on and I input roughly 50% throttle. If I go below or above that throttle range, the engine runs smoothly. I thought it was the EGR valve but it is still occurring. I have been told that it could be the throttle positioning sensor. If that is in fact the case, I would need to replace the throttle body as you cannot replace the sensor alone.

Has anyone else run into this? If so, what have you found to be the solution?

When you say, "I thought it was the EGR valve but it is still occurring", what does that mean? You had the valve replaced? Or did you clean the EGR valve, cooler, and intake manifold?

I replaced the EGR valve but I did not clean or touch either the cooler or the intake manifold

    UPDATE

We took the valve cover off and discovered that one of the spark plugs was cracked and two of the other spark plugs had a fair amount of oil on them. Also, the timing chain and timing chain guide have play in them. Replaced the spark plugs including the boots and the valve cover gasket. Vibration is still there.

My check engine light has finally come on so I am excited to see what code or codes are brought up on the scanner

Have coolant level been steady over the last few months?

Hey all, hope I'm not hijacking the thread. First time posting on the gen3 forum, but used to hang out in gen1.

I just dropped my 2010 with similar mileage off at my local shop. Same story as OP, and losing coolant and getting misfire DTCs. Head gasket?

Likely. How many miles? EGR and intake ever been cleaned?
