I absolutely agree. This is the 3rd PriusHood I've owned...first the cordory one (pretty bad design), then the leather one (much better with firmer 'hood', but still a little saggy after a year or so), and now the hard plastic textured design. Looks much like the dash texture, a little shinier than my dash, but that may be b/c my dash is 2 1/2 years old. Will never sag (hope it won't warp) and fits very neatly.

I give a strong recommendation for this hood to everyone.

"Dog barrier... this took some work to install, since I wanted the dog to be able to reach a window. Seats down, I left the little cups off the bottom of the poles, and inserted the pole bottoms into the baby carrier sockets on the back of the seats. Works very well, and Gabe can stick his head out the window whenever he likes, while still being kept out of the front seats."

Which model dog barrier did you use? Pictures on the install? We have a blind pug that travels with us but falls into the 'abyss' between the folded rear seats and front seats. He ends up stuck in the rear passenger area on the floor and unable to get back up. Yes, I know, kinda sad, but he gets by okay, for the most part, really! Basically just want a barrier to prevent him from attempting to cross that abyss into the front seats. Thanks... :D

    Cheers,

    Curt.

    hawkjm73,

I have wanted to get this for a while. However, I had been wondering about a couple of things, perhaps you could address my concerns?

    1) I have heard that the nose deflector sits on the hood on plastic "legs" which are stuck by adhesive to the hood. Is this correct? If so, would this not harm the paint and/or leave marks on the hood?

    2) Because it sits on the "legs" and has a cutout for the Toyota symbol, it produces a lot of sounds/noise when you drive at a higher speed (due to air rushing through it). Is this true? Is this very noticable?

    3) Did you install it on yourself? Was it relatively simple to put on?

Thank you! Also, if you could show some pictures of the deflector installed on your car (perhaps one from an angle where you can see how it sits on the hood), I would really appreciate it!

Oh and, in relavance to the thread, I have the mudflaps and the rear-bumper protector (black) installed on my car. It looks great and is definitely good for the Prius...the rear bumper guard has definitely come in handy since I was using the Prius to move things to my new place a few weeks ago ;)

THE Winter LIPS are here: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=19256&st=20 . Way cool and I don't think that I would have searched for another solution but that would be here: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=1...adiator+blocker . OK I am fond of the latter only because I did it! Frank solution is elegant and simple, and if I would have interpleaded the various threads I may have done that. The solution I came up with worked but was butt ugly. One has to do what one has to do!

Thanks for the info and the links. It was very good information as it does get cold here in Mass. I will have to figure out what to do for my own "winter lips" :p

This one: Midwest Pet Barrier model 10

It's easy to install, since you can press down on the seats to reduce the tension, and then let go for a snug fit.

And just for grins, the car and the aftermarket perforated leather :)

...he really liked the back window on the 4Runner, but he's learning to make do with the side windows on the Prius.

What a perky pup!! Hey, thanks for the info, I'm gonna see about doing that kind of set-up...never occurred to me to use those tie-downs for our "baby". Sharp looking pet ride, inside and out.

    Cheers,

    Curt.

PS And a pic of our blind pug, Kyllo! Yeah, he's got a tough life...

I have posted some pics in my album. Here is an overview picture. I am by no means finished but this part is done.

I have the BT plate, shark fin (no radio problems), and "Prius" decal graphic, Sigma rear bumber protector, and cargo net. All have been good quality, easy to install, and serve their purpose well.

    kross,
I can toss in my .02 on the hood deflector, as I have one on my 2005, and there is one sitting at home waiting to be installed on my wife's new 2006.

I bought them both from wooddash.com. $89.95 plus $20 shipping, no tax online. Ordered the latest one on Monday, and it arrived yesterday (thursday)! good service; they called me 10 min. after I placed the order online because I'd screwed up my credit card number. anyway, here're my answers:

    1. there are 3 or 4 little clear stick-on bumpers that you stick to your hood. The deflector doesn't really so much sit on them as float over them, or maybe touches them lightly. You mount the bumpers to your hood instead of to the bottom of the deflector so that they don't rub off the paint on your hood. The deflector is actually mounted to 4-6 little clips that you screw on the lip of your hood. No drilling. they also give you a few little rubber or cloth stick-on protectors that you on the lip of your hood, under the clips. I think if you ever removed the deflector and thus the bumpers, you'd just use a hairdryer to soften the glue, and it would clean up fine.

    2. I do get a little whistle caused by the deflector. I don't mind it; it isn't too loud, and I don't notice it any more.

    3. A monkey could put it on in 10 minutes. I don't know how to shrink/post pictures, and have no interest in figuring it out, but I'd be happy to take some this weekend and email them to you if you pm me your email address.

I also ordered the mud flaps ($43), side mouldings ($110), and rear bumper protector ($30) from metrotpn.com on Monday and received them Thursday, although in this case I paid extra for 2 day shipping.
I was very pleased to see that the bumper protector, while not as long (side to side) as the one I'd bought from them for my 2005, is wider and has a lip that curls down and protects the rear upper edge of bumper. The one I'd put on my 2005 (which was listed as being for the Toyota Matrix, has dimples on it instead of raised stripes) did not protect the edge, and I have more than a few touched-up spots on it as a result. The new one looks like the Sigma one in Subarutoo's post (I didn't compare shipping costs, but Sigma looks to be pricier on all three of these items.)

Finally, I have the new plastic Robin Hoods on the way for both cars, based on Dr. Fusco's positive reviews.

Just a handful of little things for me...

*Window tint on all windows excepting front windshield
    *Integrated XM radio
    *Sun hood for the mfd
*All-weather mats (put in before roadtrips/snowboard trips and on rainy days)
    *Cargo tote
*Cargo net (but haven't used it yet)
    *CA HOV stickers

    My list of eventual to-do's:

I'm still trying to think of something witty to get on a customized license plate frame, and have yet to buy any decals (although I'm sure whatever decals I get will not be Prius-related).

I'd like to get a bumper protector, preferably one of the clear ones. I, um, lacked the ability to get the last one I purchased put on properly so that was a nice waste of $.

When comes the time to get new tires, I'm getting the Comfortreads I've heard so much about here...but that won't be till the OEM's get nearer to the end of their lives as money isn't growing on trees these days for me and the OEM's aren't giving me any problems.

Am thinking about getting side moulding also.

Have you heard of any problems with tinting with the Navigation feature. My 06 should be here in the next week and I wanted to have the windows tinted. I saw a post somewhere that warned about GPS problems if I do.

I ordered the Cargo net as an accessory...the rings are there but no net and no one can seem to "find" or "get" one so far...I go to Service tomorrow since my bumper (right rear quadrant) is loose.

Would the Cargo net hold a wheel chair or transport chair in place and keep it from sliding into sides or back?

I also want bumper protectors, but have a feeling I won't have any luck at my Service Department tomorrow.

    - Speaking of noise... the one thing I did not like when test driving the Prius, was the road noise on the crappy California grooved highways. So I swapped the tires to Goodyear Assurance Comfortread. Much better. Not as quiet as my 4Runner, but a big improvement.
    [/quote]

What exact model did you buy? I'm inexperienced with buying tires and we live in NY- a good deal of ice and snow...
    Thanks! Tanya
