I am wondering what the average cost is and if you were satisfied with the look afterwards? I have the barcelona red and I am thinking about adding black leather if I can find a good place that will do it for a reasonable price. Thanks.

I have after market leather seats that were made by Katzkin (www.katzkin.com) that I got through my dealer (who actually used a 3rd party) and I paid $995. Someone told me recently that the price has gone up since I got mine in May or June. I'm very satisfied with them.

You can also get heated seats, and you can get different kinds of leather for the outside of the seats and the 'center panel', like sold black outside/perforated center, or color combinations. (I just ordered 'grey', not realizing I had all these options.)

The Katzkin site shows some installers, but you can also find them in the yellow pages under headings like 'auto upholstery' or 'automobile customizing'. But I'd recommend making sure that they quote you a price using Katzin leather seats - everything I've read here in PC seems to recommend them highly, and be sure you're getting leather, not leatherLIKE (someone here got an upgrade through a Toyota dealer and would up getting vinyl, not leather).

Make sure it's a leather kit by Katzkin and you won't be disapointed. Go take a look at this link

Thanks Bob and Jeannie. I checked out the Katzkin website and the quality looks very good. I like the idea of getting heated seats also. I am going to look for an installer in my area and just go for it. The leather will definitely last longer and I think it looks much nicer.

I was at the Katzkin site and I did not see any available packages for the 2006 prius. I am just not looking in the right place?

Let the installer provide you with the materials. Here's pics of a 2006 with katzkin leather

What do they plug into to get the heated seats? Also where does the switch wind up

The leather for my '06 was installed an an aftermarket shop that does 95% dealer business. It looks like a factory install.

My cost came to $1100. I thought this was much cheaper than going with package #8 for an extra $5000 for a lot of stuff I didn't need!

My thoughts exactly. From what I hear HID lights get stolen anyway and I don't need NAV to go 9 miles to work... ;)
