    Hello all,

I'm looking for some dimensions that I can't seem to find anywhere and would like to enlist help from anyone who has their suspension system apart or spare parts lying around.

    front suspension:
    1. Front strut mounting plate bolt distances from one another.
    2. Bolt distance front center of the mounting plate
    3. Bolt size in metric.
    4. Mounting plate top opening
    5. Mounting plate platform size.
    Rear suspension:
    1. Spring inner dimension size.
    2. Spring perch dimensions.
    3. Spring outer dimension.

    maybe I'm missing something.

I will be CAD modeling these and releasing them to all members to use.
The reasoning behind requiring this lift kit is due to curb height.
The front & rear door for the vehicle has hit the curb multiple times, also sometimes making it impossible to get out.
Also, while parking. I now back into spots as to not hit my front right corner or curb scraping the corner, or hitting the front lip when pulling into a parking spot.

The height increase I wish to accomplish is about 1.25 inches.
the front spacer will be 30mm and the back will be 35mm due to batteries. s-l1600.jpg

I will be willing to make sets of these at cost+shipping and sending them to members.
the material will be Nylon 12 Material with metal bushings and replacement studs for the front coils.

You've got a Prime? Just measuring what you're enquiring about would be safest?

    yes, I have the prime.
This would be the height considered as the max that you can safely go to.(without making major suspension system adjustments.)
I confirmed this with the Russian company TEMA4x4.
granted, I still want to confirm this after its installed and the alignment is done.

that being said the stock height on a C-HR is 5.9 ground clearance, based on my research it looks like its mainly due to tire size, as the stock on C-HR is P215/60R17

C-HR seems to share a lot of parts with the prime

Bought a lift kit that was floating around in Maryland.
Will be reverse engineering it once it arrives.
30mm lift version, but Technically I will be able to CAD model different sizes.

What kind of CAD are you using?

What exactly is “reverse engineering”? If you’ve got the lift from another company wouldn’t it basically just be copying it?

Every design in the world has already been made, you create new things by taking existing things, Using them, finding their pros and cons. measuring them, making a new version.

how many different types of rotors are out there and why are their so many. Don’t they look all kind of similar?
Aren’t car companies just copying each other’s rotors, or shocks or w/e
I can say this about hundreds of things.
At the end of the day, reverse engineering is a technical term for copying something in a legal way for these reasons.
    • to learn, as when a child takes apart a clock
    • to change or repair a product
    • to provide a related service
    • to create a compatible product
    • to create a competitive product

I could just pull my strut out and make a spacer, this is just me being lazy.

Receiving the Russian kit tomorrow by fedex.
Should take me less than an hour to model it up.

I will have cad files for everyone by Monday with a BOM.

Not to be a downer (really), but I cannot fathom how such a modification would not adversely impact aerodynamics, stability, operating efficiency, and overall performance. Also, how many curbs might be taller, rendering 1.25" additional lift useless? Far better to know which parking scenarios in which to exercise more care, yes/no? :cautious:

I am a engineer and carry a measuring device in my car. the clearance i need is about 1 inch wherever I go. there have been a couple exceptions. I really don't want to think about this as i'm driving or pulling into a spot.
    Should i pull in more?
    is my rear sticking out?
    will i hit the curb?
will my wife open the door too far and smack my door against the ground for the 100th time.

here are the files for the car.
you can use this company Get instant CNC machining & injection molding quotes - 3D Hubs

if you choose to get them machined..
    Aluminum 6061-T6
$558 for a front and rear

I suggest getting them 3D printed
    MJF/Nylon 12
    $293.00 for front and rear.

    PETG
    $246.00 for front and rear.

I'm still working out a price for making them inhouse

you will need mcmaster part: 9922k21 x 1
    McMaster-Carr
    OD 5/8"
    ID 0.495"
*cut to 1" lengths, you only need 6

    M10-1.5 x 70mm press fit stud x 6

    - Front strut top mount bolts 50.0N-m
    - Rear strut top mount bolts 55.0N-m
    - Rear lower strut bolt 125.0N-m
    - Rear spring lower control arm closest to strut 73.0N-m
    - Rear upper control arm 73.0N-m

** also keep in mind, I have not tested these for fit. when i get around to it I will do so.
I will be updating these files live, something you download an today may be different from tomorrow.

I wish you well...but it seems like a lot of expense and trouble in an attempt to gain ~1" to ~1.25" inches.

The 205/75-15 LRR tire will accomplish virtually the same thing. A 205/75-15 is about ~27" in diameter vs the stock OE tire at 25" diameter, this means the 205/75-15 would lift the chassis roughly ~1" inch. It could easily be looked at as completely free "if" someone was in the market for new tires. Then there's the fact that there is no work involved with going to a tire store & buying these tires.

One could argue that doing this with tires is a bad idea, the speedometer would be off by roughly ~5 mph; when going ~60 mph you'd really be going ~65 mph. But one could also argue that modifying the Toyota suspension in an effort to raise it with its related costs and all the work involved is also a bad idea. For me I'd choose neither, but if I had to choose, I'd choose the tires because of their simplicity & quick reversal if they aren't liked.

The PETG price is a ripoff.. can do it inhouse for dirt cheap. Anyways.. i looked at the stl's and something is off. The 30mm one only contains a 6 x 1 x 6 mm object. Did you scale them correctly? Thanks!

The PETG is indeed a rip off, you could probably go get a 3D printer for that price and print it yourself.

they are indeed to scale but STL does not carry data. I would import it as inches.

I don’t disagree with this, I will most likely buy these tires as well, but seeing as how my current ones will last me 40k miles and I have access to equipment, these are looking like they will only cost me about 40 dollars per car set.

Well I ended up cross referencing the measurements on your design with my Gen 3 lift spacers and ended up making a set of Gen 4 spacers. I went with 33mm front and 30mm rear. I initially went with 35mm in front but the lower arm just barely kissed the sub frame at full suspension droop. So I shaved off 1mm then 1 more for a margin of error. Im really happy with how they came out and will have the next set sent off to laser and powder coating. Off to get my AT tires mounted! =) IMG_2183.jpg
