Long story short, my Prius got rear-ended, and I just picked it up after repairs. I looked underneath the left rear-end, and saw a piece of shrouding that makes for a flat surface all the way to the bumper cover. The right side, around the muffler and tailpipe had nothing. I understand that the exhaust components would necessarily have some space around them, but then again, I could see what looked like some mounting lugs that were unused. Can anyone peak under their right rear and see if there is any shrouding? A pic would be awesome, if someone has time. If they screwed this up (I asked, and of course they said it never had one- of course).

What really sucks: the disconnected the battery for so long that I lost my lifetime mpg average, and my radio presets. But at least they hosed down every conceivable surface (including the MFD screen) with Armor All!

    Grrr.

I recall from installing my trailer hitch. The shroud is only on the driver side.

Lifetime MPG? From reading the manual my understanding was that my MPG reset evey tank of gas. Did I miss
something and where is this feature (granted I am on my second tank)...

No, the average only resets if you select 'reset' on the info. screen. The mileage (miles driven) for THAT tank automatically reset after refill. We never pressed reset, thus were carrying a hard-earned 51.1 at 15K! Not really that big a deal, but a little irksome.

Really? That's cool, but the 2006 Owner's Manual (page 168) says otherwise:

On my 05 the mpg reset automatically with each fillup, but on my 06 I have to hit the reset button after refueling, so an 06 can keep lifetime mileage if you don't hit reset.

Anyone else care to jump in. I cannot answer since I am only on tank number 2. When the MPG resets what do you see. Does it go back to zero?

On the 2006, the miles reset, but not the mileage.

    Hi all,
On my 2006 Prius I was going to write that miles reset, but its not clear if the mileage automatically resets. I think the mileage does reset as well, since immediately after filling up the tank the mileage seems to be more variable with driving patterns, whereas towards the end of the tank the mileage seems to be less variable with driving patterns.

After reflecting on this more, I will pose the question. How does one really determine if the mileage is reset anyway?

    Thanks
    Dave

I have an 06 (Canadian model), and I can confirm that the Consumption "trip meter" does reset with more a fill of more than 10L, though the fuel effiency ("Avg MPG", though in my case "Avg L/100km") does not, unless you physically press the Reset button, which I do with each tank anyway. ;)

It's pretty easy to tell if it auto-resets or not, since the Avg MPG will fluctuate quite a bit after first being reset.

I haven't verified the wording in my particular owner manual, but I think this is a case of a lousy "jinglish" translation...

I don't want to quibble over language, but I believe the manual is actually written in Engrish. :D
