I replaced the dash speakers or called tweeters to improve sound quality. They did their job but sound still not enjoyable. A couple of months ago I rented a 2019 Corolla and it's quality was way better. Same thing with a 2019 Ford Focus.
To improve quality do I need to replace just speakers or the hole in-dash head unit?
What's going on Prius Plugin Hybrid?

I've had the JBL system in both my priuses and it's been decent for a factory stereo. The base system has full range speakers (i.e. not woofers) in both front and rear door the doors. They'll never sound that good. An upgraded head unit will get your more power but the speakers may not be able to handle it. The dash tweeters don't make much difference in the power / overall quality of the sound. I'd replace both the head unit to get some wattage and the speakers to handle it. The speakers are riveted in so either be prepared to deal with that or find a place to do the install. Fry's will do it cheaply.

Yeah, I'm also happy with the JBL system in my Prius, I guess the OP doesn't have this?
The Gen 3 Prius is quite lacking in sound insulation though - improving this should help with the audio quality.

That is something I've also noticed in regards to my 2012 vs my older 2007. Empty sounding doors when closing and rattle from speakers, although I did have the JBL in my Gen 2, and I've got the base system in my current 2012.
