I have a 2016 prius v. Reecently on start up, my phone starts a call with itself, silencing the audio. My iphone does not show a call in progress. Pressing the switch to handset button ends the call. Does anyone else have this problem?

Not with our 2016 Prius v Three, at least so far...

Have you tried un-pairing the phone from the car, the car from the phone then re-pairing the two? Presuming of course your using Bluetooth for comms between the phone and car.

Google Maps has the option to use bluetooth voice to announce directions. Essentially, making a phone call to itself as you described. Is Google Maps running in the background? If Google has this option, other apps have this option as well. Check for that.

P.S. In case you are wondering why Google has this option. It's because if you are listening to another audio source like FM radio and using your phone for GPS, you won't hear turn-by-turn navigation. Using BT voice, you will because it will be as if someone is calling you.

I'm a little late to this thread, but I did observe this problem. It only occurred when I had the Time Warner (now spectrum) Phone 2 go app running on the phone. So I just don't leave the app running unless I need it and then I just hang up on the weird start up call. So check for a running voice over IP app running on your phone if you have this problem.

This just started happening to me yesterday! Have unpaired and repaired the connection. Google maps is not involved. If i start the car and put it in a gear then the call screen will pop up and tell me I am calling my own number. I am not allowed to hang up. If I transfer the call to my phone, the message goes away. Sometimes the audio will end up at the source screen, but If I select FM for example, it will tell me that a call is in progress. I have an iPhone SE and have IOS 12.4 running on that. What's up with that?

The Prius is a 2014 model three.

    Sure it doesn't say "Call from <your number>" ?

That would be a BT Audio prompt, as stated above.

This screen pops up 50% of the time shortly after startup. My phone shows no indication or history of the event. If I open my phone's camera app, the screen disappears. 2020 Prius Prime. Any ideas? 2020-02-04 09.23.30-2.jpg

I would get something similar when I had voice over internet apps running on my phone. I think it was google voice and one other app (can’t remember) that I had to close and stop running so I would not get a phantom call soon after starting the vehicle up. Try closing apps until problem goes away. I forget if I had to force the app to stop running in the background or not.
