Dang it, thought we could get through winter at least.
I reset the codes so can get around but looks like battery is weak.
We are inclined to trade in for new hybrid.

Ya done good!! Since it's in otherwise good shape perhaps a used (not rebuilt) battery and then gift it to a loved one or else sell it? At that age, I know I'd be longing for a change. Then again, other folks hate change. <shrug> :)

Well, you almost made it through winter.
14 model years, and 192K, I'd probably enjoy an upgrade at this point.

Right now have not thought about selling...assuming we will her trade in for another Prius or Camry or RAV4 hybrid.
But I posted here in case someone had some good ideas. Would probably be in a "v"already if they still sold em here.

Check out Miller Toyota in Manassas.
Ask for Sam Lee and say Bruce Osborne sent you. He is still driving his Gen 1 Prius.
Or PM me and I can send him your email information.

On your prior advice Bruce I did send him email already.
He got back but I guess he is expecting me to call.
We also got ours at Miller but it was a different salesperson who probably retired.

PM me. I think he is choosy who he responds to. I think he is mainly fleet sales.

My older son bought 2 Prii from him and my younger son bought a Corolla. I bought a Corolla from Miller and a long gone salesman.

Buying the Prius from Sam was a totally different experience. We dealt mainly by email & phone since I am 150 miles away. He told me about this car to we headed over to test drive & possibly buy. He spent over 30 minutes in the car going over its features before we even drove it. We drove it & bought it. We waited for the PDI to be completed and we were on our way.

Well, it was a good run!

Not diss'ing the gen 2 but pretty much any modern hybrid will be a huge change; the more modern batts/electronics are so much more powerful while the software more polished.

    GOOD LUCK! Shopping.

We have never done this before, but I think we would have fun renting RAV4H via Toyota rental program. And then CamryH if need be. Looks like most of the dealers have that incl. Miller have that.

Aww man. Well the Gen 2 is a solid vehicle but eventually the battery will give way. If the car is in a good condition, a new battery will go a long way for the next owner (assuming it isn't scrapped after you trade it in or sell it).

Lots of new options in the market now. (if you have a second vehicle to use, you could start a waiting list for the RAV4 Prime at your preferred dealer lol)

Based on my experience with Toyota Rent a Car at a dealer in Escondido, CA and one in Humble, TX, I would highly recommend that anyone considering buying a new Toyota rent the model they are coveting for a few days first. I bought the 2017 Prius partly based on my experience with renting one a couple of years ago, and we are now considering the 2020 Corolla Hybrid for my wife, having had a positive experience renting that car recently.

Wire in the Prolong harness, buy the equipment and rebuild the battery(y).

    Prolong the life;).

    Wrong pun:).

If the car is in great shape, why not continue to drive it:whistle:?

Saves more money than draining accounts or having a payment. Particularly given the losses we all have had recently with the stock market:cool:.

    Why not "prolong" its life(y).
