SIGH. You just CAN'T let it go, can you ?
There is a limit to how much oil actually completely burn in the cylinders......and it isn't much.
If you are seeing "smoke" out the tail pipe, that is oily mist and indictes that all the oil is NOT being burned but is being vaporized.

Whenever I read a post like this, I try to read between the lines and make an empathetic connection as to what the OP really wants to do, or is asking.
Sometimes I think the person is often just looking for permission or validation an OK to get a new vehicle.

Listen, if you want a Prius Prime? And you can afford it? Get one. You don't really need any other reason.
The truth is, your 2010 might have a considerable amount of life left, and investing into fixing or continuing it's usage is almost always going to be the cheaper option.

But if you would rather a new Prius Prime....then it might not be the right option.
Nobody can really predict how long the engine might go burning oil but being viable. You could invest into fixing the engine and it would always be less than buying a brand new vehicle.

So in short? It's kind of up to the individual.

I think moving on, upgrading to a Prius Prime is a perfectly viable choice, if budget allows.
I also think keeping the 2010, with various approaches to either repair or maintaining operation is also perfectly viable.
But I can't really offer which is the BEST of the two choices....that's up to the person making the choice.

10 w 40 T6 and the engine is quieter. Just add weekly... approximately 1/4 quart every ten days....
    6000 mile change interval.

Shell...... 1000 / 2000 or more... depending on the temps when I ride my Goldwing usually 150+ a day.
Usually by the time I reach 5000+ the oil is pretty dirty and I have installed close to a quart.

Shell Rotella T6 has a high zinc content. It's my understanding that zinc will foul a catalytic converter. For that reason, I only use it in my vehicles that 1) don't have catalytic converters 2) don't burn oil. (I wish my Prius V was on that list. :()

I run it in all of my vehicles including my Goldwing Motorcycles.
Used to only use Mobile 1

If your burning oil, yes excess of zinc will clog. There are gen 2 owners here that uses redline oil for 80,000 miles and no catalytic converter issues with no oil burns.

They now have a version for "gas engines".
It may be lower in zinc. Just guessing.

You’re right. Similar to that, Redline has a new line of oil that will keep your car warranty valid. Has less zinc compared to the red synthetic.

Yes. Exactly. Look it up on the Internet before shopping so you will recognize the different "packaging".
