Apparently a huge step in transparency has been made. That is the hardest to see invisible tape I have ever (not) seen!

 

As you probably know by now, the Utah Jazz were here last night in OKC to play the OKC Thunder. About 30 seconds before the game started, they announced that the game was rescheduled and that EVERYONE must leave ASAP with no other explanation. Almost like a fire drill announcement. Of course we find out this morning that Rudy Gobert on the Jazz tested positive. OKC had been relatively unphased by the virus, but I had to go by the grocery store at 11am his morning and it was full of people running around like it was the weekend before Thanksgiving or something. The grocery store equivalent of a bank run. The shelves were pretty hammered.

It has apparently gotten people's attention here.

PS, they still had plenty of Carmel Easter eggs, which is why I went to begin with.

I do not know who Rudy Gobert is, since I do not follow the NBA, but I'm not impressed by his walking around sense. Fortunately....(so far) he's more of a catcher than a spreader, and nobody he's been around seems to have been slimed.

They're talking about a lot of suspended/cancelled games now...which will have significant downrange financial effects.
Heard a quote this AM that a lot more people will be bankrupted by this bug than killed from it.

HOWEVER (comma!) good time to be in the tissue industry!

I'm probably a little further out on the 'prepper' spectrum than many people out on the left coast, so I've already laid in a fairly decent supply of the necessaries, so I'm not really bothered by butt wipe shortages, and as I said before.......190 proof and a spray bottle makes for a relatively cheap and very effective hand/surface sanitizer.

Our stores seem to be rebounding from the week-ago shopping spree.....and there's a Valero station a mile away with $1.77 gas.


I'm going to see how far it drops out before I lay in some gasoline for Hurricane season.

 

He's the fool that was making fun of the virus in a televised after game thing just this Monday (3 days before the game) where he was playing around touching all the different mic's like he wasn't afraid, etc. He was infected at the time. Talk about eating crow.

PS, Local news just interviewed some Jazz fans that flew in for the game and are still here. They're pissed . . . . at him.

As always - you'll want to confirm "stuff you heard on the internet" but I've been using Everclear (190) in a spray bottle for a while now.
It's safe on most surfaces and it evaporates readily leaving less smell and residue behind than some sanitizers.

With the spritzers I described earlier I usually spray surfaces like door knobs, and just allow to dry - and sometimes spray and wipe.

The CDC says that regular (40 proof) vodka is NOT sufficient for this task!

.....and they're right!!!

40-proof is approximately 20-percent alcohol by volume, and the CDC says you should be at or over 60-percent alcohol by volume.
If you're not into the mental gymnastics just get isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) which is what the doctor usually wipes you with before drawing blood or giving you an injection....even when it's a 'lethal" injection curiously enough - but that's another story.

This form of alky is usually 90% alcohol by volume will work the same for germ fighting as the high octane stuff you get behind the bar or at many fraternity gatherings.
It's just not safe to drink......but then.....neither is Everclear, really.....

Denatured alcohol can be up to 60% methanol, which is the most common denaturing agent used. Like ethanol, methanol can be absorbed through the skin. It could be used for disinfecting clean surfaces. In that role, best to use around 70%. Stronger strengths could evaporate off before killing everything when wiped around.

The amount of methanol varies by brand and the current prices of it and ethanol, but it is safe to assume that hardware store denatured or fuel alcohol contains a good bit of methanol. All denatured ethanol has something added to it to make it undrinkable, and most of those somethings are poisonous and may not need to be swallowed to affect a person. So don't use it for a hand sanitizer.

I never used a tub.
Those large water cooler jugs work best.
I also used a balloon with a pinhole once in lieu of a proper vapor lock just to prove a point.

Of course.....they would take my CPO card away from me if I didn't mention Raisin Jack.....
