If the Olympic sponsors aren't all bankrupt by then. Also there could be more important things to invest in at that point.

The USA should be moving all the sick people into auditoriums to separate them from the rest of the population. Provide them water and food. That and a huge scale up in testing and for those without symptoms is the only thing that will prevent this from causing Great Depression II.

All the schools and sports arenas are closed anyway so there are vast numbers of auditoriums available!

new cdc report: 40% of american coronavirus hospitalizations are people between the age of 20 and 54.

older people are more likely to die though

For technical people who regularly work with logs and exponentials, that log scale is highly iluminating. It will better illustrate when growth slows down from exponential. Not happening here yet, though at least Italy is showing a slight bit of slowing from its initial exponential rate.

For readers who work better with linear scales, click the link in my earlier post. The graphs on that web page will default to linear scale.

Either way, please go look at that page. It has more graphs to illustrate the growth.

When the news started about the Wuhan outbreak, I recall speculation that it started in a particular market, they were selling various exotic animals (to be eaten), often live, and that might the source of infection. Was that just urban myth, or still being researched?

Ah ok, it likely is what happened, but at this point doesn't help:

    Never mind...

i have read that it most likely jumped from animal to human in tight overcrowded food stalls, not eaten, and likely reptilian.
i don't think it is positively known yet

Bats were the original host for the virus, though it may have infected other animals before getting to humans.

    IV vitamin C works.

The results from treating about 50 moderate to severe cases of Covid-19 in the Shanghai Public Health Center demonstrate the usefulness of vitamin C. The effective doses used were 10,000 mg for moderate cases, 20,000 mg for severe cases, and 50,000 mg for one severe case. The treatment was repeated daily for 7-10 days. All patients who received IVC improved and there was no mortality. The average Covid-19 patient was in the hospital for 30 days, those receiving IVC had a hospital stay of 3-5 days shorter.

Here's the full press release from the Orthomolecular Medicine News Service:

Successful High-Dose Vitamin C Treatment of Patients with Serious and Critical COVID-19 Infection

If the 20-54 age group in US also has the lower rates of becoming severely ill and requiring hospitalization )which was true I think of China and South Korea), that 40% hospitalization of 20-54 year olds in the US implies to me that there has already been a huge, undetected amount of spread and contagion in that segment of the US population. @bisco , does that that inference seem correct to you?

Someone didn't like my "communist chinese(always small letters)" & pointed out that sometimes I didn't say, "communist chinese(always small letters)". It appears you don't like my CONSISTENT use of "communist china(always small letters)".
Its ALWAYS important to remember that the massacres by communist chinese (always small letters) leading to the deaths of 100 million Chinese Citizens, BROTHERS, SISTERS, CHILDREN, & BABIES were the GREATEST short-term democides EVER on the face of the Earth & was twice as great as the democides by Hitler & Stalin COMBINED. The World got rid of Hitler & finally Stalin died. But, the murderous, torturous, & starving-to-death CONSISTENT actions of the communist chinese (always small letters) are now praise-worthy. If you don't believe so, go ask the communist chinese (always small letters) & the Chinese Citizens who will be imprisoned onto death, if they don't praise the communist chinese....... as ever.... (always small letters).

P.S. Supposedly, Italy has now moved past communist china (always small letters) in coronavirus deaths. However, communist china (always small letters) has had three months (more?) of political propagandizing to twist coronavirus origins connection to communist china (always small letters). A key to that lying is twisting coronavirus case & death numbers in communist china (always small letters). communist chinese (always small letters) data is suspect by U.S. intelligence agencies.
