Look for flushable wet wipes. No TP in my Walmarts but they had wipes I like better anyway.

We scored a 20 lb bag of Botan rice today at a local supermarket. It is not the brand we usually buy, but we may not be able to travel down to a big city for a while to get our favorite. My wife also pre-ordered currently out of stock Nishiki rice from Amazon at close to our regular price last week, but we don't know when they will arrive. And now the same 15 lb Nishiki rice are sold at Amazon priced at 4-5 times of regular price.

Report it to Amazon, to whatever price gouging alert system they have.

Yeah, but it's not just one item. All across any bag of rice is now sold at 5-10 times higher price than the lowest price we usually find.

I just went to a local asian grocery and got some necessities. (not sure if you have any around)
    Rice out the ying yang.
We just ran out of tofu, and i got our 3 month supply....didnt put a dent in their supply.

Only problem was, out of maybe 15 employees and 15 customers, I felt like the bad guy
I was sooo out of place....I was the only one in the store without a face mask and gloves on.
Oh well, they still allowed me to buy my stuff.
I still wiped down after getting to my car and wiped down the door handle I touched to get to the wipes, lol.

LOL, we feel out of place when we go shopping in Chinatown down in Boston. The usual price for our favorite brand of rice is usually $10 for 15 lb bag or $30 for 50 lb bag, We buy ~100 lb at a time since we only go down there a few times a year. Just don't know when next time we can travel there. :(

Amazon suspends 3,900 selling accounts over price gouging

I'm suspect there are plenty more needing to be suspended.

I have a mask leftover from Jan when I had my first cold in 4 years or so (didn't want to infect CFO)

I only wear masks when I'm the one who is sick.

I once bought a large bag of Lucky elephant rice from a Costco. In about 4 months all the rice beetles hatched out and was crawling everywhere. Never did that again.

We usually do not buy very cheap imports. Only buy premium medium grain rice like Sekka, Haru Haru, Nishiki, and alike that are grown in California. If we are in a mood to splurge, we go for premium short-grain Japanese rice (aka sushi rice) brands like Tamaki, Kagayaki, Nozomi, etc. but they cost almost twice as much as medium grain rice. We never had any bug problems in longer storage, some bags almost up to ~4 mo. That said, a 15 lb bag will last only a few weeks in our family. So after opening, we use up a bag fairly quickly.

I don't normally associate Costco with cheap imported goods. Just shows how much I know.

Those can end up clogging pipes. They don't break down as well as intended in the wild.

I keep rice in a Vittle Vault, an air tight container for pet food, which uses food grade plastic.

Yes, multiple warnings here over the past few years to not flush those mislabeled "flushable wipes" down the toilet. They belong in the trash can, where they won't clog pipes, screen grates, and sewage processing equipment.

Walking the dog, we used to be seeing Starbuck cups all over the place. Now it's wipes and face masks.

Smart!! (y) That's about the only way they are effective unless you wear a CPAP mask or something like that over it so you don't suck air around it. And then you still fuss with it all the time which amounts to touching your face all the time. I guess you could tape the edges down. That would force all the air through the mask.

Not a Costco member, but as far as rice sold in the US goes, most long-grain rice coming from Asian country are much less expensive than the long-grain rice grown in Arkansas. The brand you bought "Lucky Elephant" is most likely from Thailand. We prefer a japonica variety of either medium-grain or short-grain rice. However, for medium and short-grain rice, imports are not cheap. Most of the medium and short-grain rice, unlike long-grain variety, are grown in Japan or Koria and they can be very very expensive as imported rice. California grown japonica variety of premium medium and short-grain rice are more expensive than long-grain rice but much more affordable than Japanese import and are widely available in the US.
