you are forgetting. try this test.....On a flat back street, put the Prius in electric mod (EV) then accelerate as fast as the motors will allow before the (EV ) switches. This is the max speed the motors will supply .NO FAST. Now repeat this using (POWER) mode. immediately you punch the throttle to the floor the ICE starts and then races to max revs the car will accelerate as fast as the engine can produce electricity and toque to the wheels. Thus the ICE contribute the main power, split both paths.
SO make the engine create more power at lower revs BY (change the inlet cam shape to close early on 1 lobe per cylinder) and set the exhaust cam back 1 tooth position on the chain. result......same engine but closer to OTTO cycle than ATKINSON creating 100kw V 73kw if you then use E85 grind both in let cams to close earlier and you can make 120kw The power does NOT go back to the batteries when the call is for more power it is feed to the MG1 to hold against the inflow of toque from the ICE this then is transferred to the wheels through the ring gear with the additional power of MG2 60kw total 160 to 180kw
it works its been done see my other contributions

Hey all, i have a 2014 prius plugin and it was a hand-me-down from my dad. I love the car!! Its 20 bucks to fill the tank from bottom to top, i can do my own transmission and engine oil changes problem free, and general cost of ownership is the lowest i have ever experienced. However... I am a fan of imports and come from ownership of a 2000 Acura integra gsr that i had modified and cared for all by myself :) my point being, for me since the car is a hand me down and i dont quite have the money to upgrade right now... What would be some worthwhile albeit not crazy, mods i could do to my car?

    why you here than?

    1) When you say "looking for performance", I assume that you are trying to increase acceleration.

    2) The Prius is optimized for fuel efficiency, not acceleration.

    3) To get this point across, the AI in later gen Prius constantly nags the driver to reduce acceleration to improve fuel efficiency.
