    Hi all~
I have purchased the following part on the advice of my mechanic. I've been working to diagnose this for a long time and I think the mechanic is right. I just need to know how i get this blessed thing into my car. i have looked on Prius Chat and google and I cannot figure this out. It seems clear that this device goes under/behind the glovebox. Somewhere near the passenger side airbag.

Can some smart and helpful person point me to installation instructions? I swear i have done my diligence in trying to find this.

Part: HV CONTROL 89981-47390 (Also known as HV Control ECU or Hybrid ECU)

i will super appreciate your help. thanks so much.

by the way this is NOT the Engine ECU. It's referred to as a type of ECU but it's not the main ECU. Thanks

It kind of IS the main ECU in a Prius. It's the orchestra conductor. The engine ECU is a player.

Elektroingenieur helpfully put together this wiki page with various options for getting access to the repair manual, which will show not only where the ECU is but the steps of getting to it.

what code enlightened you and your mechanic to purchase the replacement part ? if you can provide a code thats great and sometimes there may be an additional 3 digit code that offers more precise info.

This sounds like the beginning of a horror movie...

I've never needed to replace the HV ecu behind the glovebox, so I've never tried to do the job on a functional car. I have removed it from a 2007 spare parts car after complete disassembly of the dash. Hopefully you don't need to do that much.

If right behind the glove boxes, it might not be too punishing to get to.

Thanks y’all. I still haven’t done this. If anyone can point me to instructions I’d still appreciate it.

Have you removed the glove boxes yet for a look-see?
