Yesterday I had three discs in my cd changer.
They were all playing fine but I was tired of listening to them so I put in a fourth CD.

I got a 'Check CD' message so I ejected the disc from slot four and ejected the disc in slot one.
Then I put the CD I got the 'Check CD' message on in slot one and it played fine.

I should've just left it alone but I tried to put the disc that was in the first tray into tray four.
I got a 'CD Error' message and now none of the discs will eject or play.

I can here the disc change moving and what I presume to be, trying to eject the discs but nothing comes out. The light blinks amber and after a short time the changer will quit trying.

Everything else works fine. I.e. FM, AM, SAT, BT audio etc.

Has anyone else had this issue?
I've seen some posts in which others had this problem and they disconnected the 12v battery briefly then tried again and the discs ejected.

Is this safe to try? If so could you explain or link me to a post that will describe how to do this?
I will take a video of the CD player trying to eject the discs later.

    TIA.

You have a jammed CD player and it doesn't cost anything to try disconnecting the 12v battery. Open the hatch and pull out the deck. Then remove the side caps & the tray. You should be looking at a spare tire & the battery to your right. Here's a link: How to Change A Prius Battery - 12V Battery Replacement

    Good luck, Mr. Phelps.

Just an FYI for anyone who comes across this thread having the same issue I had and continue to have.

I did disconnect the 12v battery. That did eject the map DVD which has its own slot but didn't help with removing the CDs. That said, all four discs are still stuck in the disc changer and won't play at all. I'll mention it the next time I'm at the dealership.

If they want to replace the whole unit or try to charge me some ungodly amount to remove the discs, I'll just leave them in there and continue listening to music through USB or Bluetooth.

I too have a jammed CD but in my case the door won't open to get to it. I have removed the entire NAV/CD unit and will either try to find a local repair place or possibly send it to HiTech in VanNuys, CA for repair. HiTech has a youtube video on how to remove the unit so it can be sent to them. The repair, I am sure, will not be cheap nor will the freight since it is so heavy. Just a small hint-I used a butter knife instead of the panel removal tools and it worked fine-no scratches.

I had the problem of the disc hatch getting stuck. So, I started to nudge it during the opening process. I found that if I would gently nudge it to the left while it’s opening it will engage and open. The ejection process was normal after that.
