Gas prices around here were what I thought was a relatively cheap $2.50/gal when I ordered my Prime in January. It’s being reported now that gas is being sold for under $1/gal now! At 50 m/gal that’s 2 cents/mile, comparable to electricity costs and driving in EV mode. I’m still very happy with my purchase, but am shocked that this has happened.

Yeah, the SUV drivers need to enjoy this while they can.

It's almost down to $1.80 here. Today I saw from $1.82 to $1.90.

I have for the most part charging my Prime. Gas here is less than $2.00 / gallon and in MA it costs the equivalent of ~$3.00 to run on electricity. I'm not sure that gas prices will rise much for a while.

the good news is you have a vehicle that can take advantage of price in either situation

I drive by a few of those locations from time to time. Nearby, prices aren't that low. I suspect it is due to since stations simply not needing more gas yet.

I took this photo Sunday night.

I agree. $3/gal is the break point for me too. But right now, I am still charging my car. For a short trip to grocery store and back, I'm glad to pay $0.20 for electricity so I don't have to stop at gas station to handle the pump.

Gas station, what’s that? I only go once a year.

Just remember that the price is curtesy of Saudi Arabia being upset with Russia and wanting to destroy US fracking and oil infrastructure, will be very interesting when they tire of it.

The supply equation is more complex than that. Minnesota gets much of its oil from Canada. So, lack of demand is a problem regardless of whatever quarrel the others have.

Somebody needs to convert into prices per thimble full for Prime users.

    "Supply AND demand." ;)
Our gas taxes are high enough and electricity cheap enough that it's still way cheaper to plug in.

I’m going to miss out completely on the cheap gas - down only about a gallon in my first 660 miles and not allowed to drive anywhere. Dealer gave me a full tank but the battery was uncharged when I picked up the car. That’s where most of that gallon was used - on the way home from the dealer.

A missed opportunity to raise gas taxes and refill the strategic reserve, eliminating the ma rodes winers argument

The Senate wanted to fill the strategic reserves but it was cut from the bill to pass in the House. They considered it a subsidy for the oil industry.

Sounds like it died over horse trading. Dems wanted renewable energy perks in exchange, but fighting over that would delay passage. There will likely be other stimulus bills in the future where it may happen. The DOE could also ask to shift funds it already has to buy oil.

We might lease it out as commercial oil depots are filling up.

that’s one way to collect taxes, then wait for the bottom and buy oil already in your reserve.
