Those excised accusations are such extreme stretches beyond reality, that I can see the remaining snippet above as only a mirror that he was looking in to.

Four countries that have passed peak infections as examples. There are differences that may later prove meaningful. The date of max was seen in retrospect. Final case projected numbers come from Gompertz:
COVID-19 Regional Numbers of Infected People
Other European countries have reached this milestone, but I've not been extracting them from WHO dailies. Not difficult to do but slightly time consuming. Note that in all examples here, the final is much more than twice number at inflection point.

I am with Bob on the scratchworthiness of this particular itch. I also like less puerile conversation on my lawn.

This pandemic is having a seismic impact.

    Literally!

The earthquake monitiring folks are noticing a significant reduction in background seismic noise, apparently from reduced traffic and industrial activity:

With Florida only closing some beaches, maybe he thought they wouldn't appreciate it.

I've succeeded in getting another machine up. It's only doing about 2700 thingies/day on full blast but I reckon that isn't bad for a 10 year old laptop while only costing me 2kWh/day. Of note, it was much quicker about picking up the first WU and digging in. Whatever the team has done to boost the backend is working.

Next I'll have a go at that old tower. It'll probably only match the performance listed above, and it'll consume 4x the juice doing it. I don't know if the GPU in there can have a go, it's an older Radeon and I'm under the impression that the GPU magic in F@H is nVidia-specific.

Excellent. We've got some cooler weather moving in so I can use my boxes to heat the house. ;) GPU's do a great job of crunching the folding units.

I saw several new articles today about the tremendous response and people wanting to contribute to fighting the virus any way they can. They just passed 1 million downloads.

They also just passed 1.5 ExaFLOPS which is 1,500,000,000.00,000,000 floating point calculations per second. That way surpasses the largest supercomputers combined.

cnn: national academy of sciences committee chairman dr. harvey fineberg tells white house last night that recent limited research shows that the coronavirus can be spread by talking, or even just breathing.

also, a recent china study shows that in hospitals, it can become suspended in the air by removing a mask, cleaning a floor, or even just moving around.

Don't know how you attributed that to me. Nothing like that shows at my end.

or - when it keeps warming anyways, we'll realize we were not as great an influence as we thought.

the better ½ ... sewing up a few for neighbors wears her own. We were out on the patio this morning signing HELOC loan docs, & our mobile notary was only wearing gloves - didn't want a mask - home made or otherwise. Yours truly steps it up to the next level ....

    From March 20:
Frodo was nearly two weeks ahead of Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, who learned just yesterday (or possibly the evening before) that this virus can be passed along by people who don't show symptoms:

"Finding out that this virus is now transmitting before people see signs, so what we've been telling people from directives from the CDC for weeks now that if you start feeling bad, stay home... those individuals could've been infecting people before they ever felt bad. But we didn't know that until the last 24 hours."

    <facepalm>

On the current trend, the UK will surpass China(*) in total reported deaths tomorrow. Iran will also do so tomorrow or Saturday.

The Netherlands, German, and Belgium might be juggling their relatives positions during the next several days. Otherwise, no upcoming changes on the death toll 'leaderboard' for a while.

(*) Greater suspicions and indirect evidence rising to question the official reports, but that is a different topic.
