I was toying with home delivery, but pretty much convinced now I gotta go in. I don't want to make two trips, and I suspect odds are pretty good some of the stuff I want will be out of stock, necessitating some on-the-fly revisions.

Last shopping trip was two weeks back last Tuesday; we're still doing ok, getting creative, digging out canned stuff and whatever's in the freezer. Porridge for breakfast every day, lots of rice dishes.

Made big pot of passable chili a few days back, goes good with rice. Was using white rice, just switched over to some brown rice that had been sitting around forever, and it definitely tastes healthier. (y)

I stopped at a local supermarket yesterday after dropping off a package at UPS. They now limit number of customers to be admitted inside. Still no line outside and no crowd inside. Sanitizer and wipes are at entrance with clear sign to direct wiping the cart handle and other commonly touched area. The cash register lines are clearly marked where to stand with signage on floor 6 feet apart. A plexiglass shield between the cashier and a customer. Plastic bags are back. I did not go all of the isles but fresh produce I was after were well stocked. I got fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, boxes of cereal, and a bag of chips. No problem.

After returning from the store, my wife washed and sanitized groceries I brought into our home, but I really think that's unnecessary.

Well you got go and do what needed for essential life activities. Had to drop a return package and we need to eat. It was the first time I drove in 10 days. While out, I had no contact with another person within 6 feet, except the cashier at the super market separated by the shield. There is no curbside pick-up or delivery option.

When "experts" agree on whether or not you should wear a mask, or what drugs might ameliorate or exacerbate symptoms, or what the incubation period might be....or how far virus particles can be propelled by a sneeze....THEN I will lend more credence to articles saying that I should not 'disinfect this' or 'wear that.'

    Until then?
I'll rely on the time-proven weapon in my arsenal that's kept me pretty much cold and flu free for decades.....

Until the clouds thin out somewhat I'm pretty sure that my CFO is still gonna spray down/wipe down our groceries..... ;)

My favourite weapon is "time" itself. Stay home and out of circulation as much and as long as possible. Best thing you can do for everyone.

Take stock of what's in the cupboards. If at all possible use it up. It may not be fancy, but it'll do. Fugedabout persishables for a few weeks.

Take a long, hard look at your "essentials" list.

    LOL...

The US Navy used to call that "sending people out to sea!!"
I remember one of my patrols got extended a couple of weeks when we were in the 'no-mores' (no more Mondays....no more Tuesdays....)
    THEN?
We started running out of some pretty interesting stuff like PB.....powder for the auto dog....(look it up after lunch!!)....egg powder....rice....chicken.....

I still don't "like" canned vegetables and fruit but I still keep a well stocked pantry of some of those items.

The problem is that at moment, no one knows for sure how long we will have to keep the social distancing. The opportunist may think a few weeks, but it may be a few months or longer. If it is longer period we have to stay locked down, then it is almost better to spread out grocery trips than everyone running out of food in their cupboards and all running to a grocery store at once.

The number of cases in BC isn't that high, I think the east coast US is much more serious. I'm just getting freaked. Which is not a bad policy. Best tact I think is do what you can, the isolating, washing hands, and minimal excursions. Improve the odds and pray.

    Don't forget to disinfect surfaces;).

Isolation is negative, physical distancing is a bit more positive and means the same thing (y).

Was a bit blaise about all this until the last few days. While I would not say I am scared, I am certainly taking it a bit more seriously.

Considering I am not that social anyway and I am retired, not been getting out into crowds anyway. Thought about buying some fresh produce today, because, of course my garden is not producing yet, but decided to forego the risk.

Instead of heeding the authorities that say masks aren't effective and just to buy groceries for a week, I took the prudent route and bought for the long term of 3-6 months but not the year that the Mormons advocate.

I spent the last three weeks completing my purchase noting that the pandemic will penetrate the population to a higher percentage.

Now, I expect to go out to the grocery store with mask, glove and eye protection only on a very limited basis.

I've had bouts of the flu that were terrible and lasted a week or more. I hear that this virus is the worst of the worse.

So, I will do almost anything to avoid it.

Tough to balance that against #226; I can only hope everyone is trying to find that balance.

Kind of. I went shopping early this morning, did get two of a lot of items, stuff we'd normally get one. Still, if there was just a few left, I'd stick to one.
