    I would just use wire nuts to connect wires for mockup only. Fast and easy. Also to take apart for the actual install.

    You are going to need a 12v battery of some type for the mockup. 12V sources that I have used over the years include the following:

    1. 12V motorcycle battery;
    2. 12V rechargeable drill battery;
    3. 12V battery from commercial exit signs (these batteries must be R&R regularly - old ones usuallt still work despite being replaced);
    4. model train transformer (you will need to adjust voltmeter to set it at 12VDC - be careful as some Lionel transformers are alternating current); and
    5. 12V wall wart for various accessories.

    Always check output voltage with voltmeter and read details on side of any train transformer or wall wart before using.

    Reprint of a portion of my prior post on wiring:

    1. pull a conductor from low beam headlights 12V (which we shall call "YELLOW") from underhood to the switch area of your Gen2;

    2. pull a conductor from the switch area of your Gen2 (which we shall call "BLUE") to the 86 circuit of the relay;

    3. you need to create a good grounding spot underneath your dash and connect a conductor to it (which we shall call "BLACK1"); and

    4. you will also need to create a good grounding spot underneath your hood and connect a conductor to it (which we shall call "BLACK2");

    5. BLACK1 should be connected to the black wire from the switch;

    6. BLACK2 should be connected to the conductor from the relay's circuit 85;

    7. YELLOW will be connected to the yellow and red wires from the switch;

    PS You need to only pick up the 12V from one ("1") of the low beam wires.

    PPS Remember the 12V from the low beam (AKA "YELLOW") is only doing the following: i.) providing very low amps to trigger circuit of the relay (No. 86 on the relay); and ii.) providing very low amps for illumination circuit of the in-dash switch.

    IOW, the amount of current that will be obtained from the low beam circuit should be very, very low (as all you have is relay trigger circuit and switch illumination being pulled from the low beam cicuit). Current (AKA amps) to light the driving lights will come from the jump point which is attached to the auxilary/in-line fuse which is then connected to the "30 Contact" on the relay.

    Looks fantastic!!! More importantly, have you tested out the new driving lights?

    If so, how much improvement did you experience (over stock - no driving lights)?

    How long did the actual install take?

    i will test the new lights today when im off work. it took me 2 days cause the bumper and new headlight doesnt fit properly cause the orgiinal owner had a front end accident so it took me awhile to put the headlight and bumper back on. another thing is that the new ebay bottom grill doesnt sit right or it just me since the right side is good only the left side alittle off aligned and the foglight bezel doesnt have holes to put the screws back on so i have to drill it and etc. lasty the underpanel iis a pain to put back since i dont know which one goes on fiirst so ii just left 1 underpanel out. lol

    Hi there Richard (or anyone else who can respond to this question)
    :
    I have ordered after-market driving lights for my 2006 Prius (similar to yours but with LED bulbs). See Ebay auction for "2006-2009 Toyota Prius Fog Lights w/Wiring Kit & LED Bulbs - Clear" - 2006-2009 Toyota Prius Fog Lights w/Wiring Kit & LED Bulbs - Clear | eBay Purchased from seller, AJCUSTOMS, of Rowland Heights CA.

    I just received the driving light kit today. Wiring is the same as your (Richard/OP) situation (IOW, should work fine). But, I am having trouble determining how these after-market driving lights mount onto my Gen2. I assumed that the bulbholders (glass lensed fixture into which the bulb is secured) were mounted to the grill bezels included in the kit. After reviewing and measuring repeatedly, it appears that the bulbholders are NOT affixed, or fastened, to the grill bezels. Instead there are two tabs with holes on the bulbholder and an adjuster with a bushing also on the bulbholders. It appears that adjuster bushing fits into a hole (so that the adjuster threaded bolt has something to psuh against. And the two ("2") tabs with holes appear to be held in place by a small rod (say 3mm) which allows the driving light to pivot when adjusted. I have attached apic from seller's ebay site where I have marked tabs with holes in red and adjusters in blue.

    My best guess (perhaps, best hope) is that there is a bracket already built-in in the bumper which will be exposed when I remove the existing bezels which lack holes for the driving lights.

    Can you assist me and provide some guidance on mounting these driving lights?

    Many thanks (in advance).

    Found the answer (bracket for driving lights is built into bumper even on Gen2 which originally did NOT come with driving lights - IOW, mounting bracket is only visible after existing bezels are removed). See: Fog light wiring harness | PriusChat

    ya the foglight bracket was already build in to the bumper so you just have to pop the foglight in and you good. i'll post the light output pic when i have time tonight mybe. i installed hid into the foglight because ii cant find any good led brand that is 3k but installed the led in the headlight make a lot of difference.

    Those LED head light bulbs look horrible, very patchy and no defined cutoff like the factory bulbs, a classic example of why LED replacement bulbs in halogen housings are a waste of time and money

    I usually use my headlights to see where I'm going rather than just 'look cool' and it would drive me insane looking at that patchy mess every night, let alone the other drivers coming towards you that are being blinded by the scatter

    Test relay and determine whether the blue wire (AKA "86" in your wiring schematic posted above) is ALWAYS receiving 12V when the following occurs:

    1.) low beams are turned ON; AND

    2.) the fog light switch is in the ON position.

    Work back or forward from there depending on results.
