I use crossborderpickups but I’m also close to their Canadian side pickup spots so I can save a bit there. You need to get country of manufacture of the item for customs before making your purchase. McMC was accommodating with this info request.

Aren't those flange nuts, with some lock toothing on the underside of the flange? Some descriptions online are saying M5 x 0.8.

Not super uncommon, but also sometimes not on the shelf at the local hardware store.

The OEM is non-serrated. Referencing McMaster-Carr, see item 93033A106 - verified fit in my 2010.

If there is a short in the hybrid battery which fuse would blow? Just want to double check before I put everything back together.

This is correct. They're 0.8, lol. 1.5 is YUUUGGEE for a M5. I probably should have gone and looked at one of the packages in the shop. Too many numbers in my head yesterday.

There is a fuse contained inside the orange safety disconnect device. You can make the modules extremely safe to work on by removing the orange busbar assemblies from the side of the battery that doesn't have the voltage sensing wires. If you remove those busbar strips and the disconnect, you've made every module an open circuit and there's nothing you can do on the other side of the battery that could cause continuity or draw a spark.

The reason the wire brush arced is that the busbars on the (non-sensor tab) side connect (+) to (-) on every set of modules, so when the wire brush touches the terminals on the other side of that pair of modules, you just put the modules in a loop with each other. zzzzztttt and sparks fly.....you didn't actually put current through or out of the entire battery, just one or more module pairs. There should be no fuse issues.

Yes, those nuts will work. They're not identical to the Toyota OEM, as the OEM has an oversized flange, but they will work just fine.

You can measure the voltage for each cell, on either side, since you have the bus bar off.
If you only touch two, it's not going to do anything. It's only 14vdc. You could get a heck of a shock
if you touch the 200+ ends though!
The brief second you touched the two probably didn't do any damage. People weld with a 12V battery.
If you watch better videos of someone working on those, they are wearing heavy rubber gloves.
You probably should wear some rubber gloves to minimize the risk.
