Guess they, and the other links on the Google search, are all in cahoots then.

& yet iirc, Italy recently downgraded the amount of deaths because they were lumping everyone they could and their third cousin into that group. For example ..... hours away from the grim reaper due to congestive heart failure? but you just tested positive? Bam - death by virus.
That said, the latest concern is so much diversion to this emergency cure / vaccine medical project - all the other med research entities are going down the drain so to speak with their research.

Like the US where if you have COVID-19 & die, even because of something unrelated, it is counted as a COVID-19 death?

i think it would be impossible for experts to agree on how to determine cause of death

COVID19 could be near-completely responsible, a partial contributing factor, drive someone to suicide, get people trampled in a panic, and so on. The associate downturn in the economy kills people. Death by association.

Doctors know exactly how covid-19 affects the body. Because it is a virus it needs to replicate itself. In doing so it steals the oxygen from red blood cells. This is how victims are starved of oxygen and their organs start to shut down. It's actually different than a case of pneumonia. In fact there are some Physicians who think that putting someone on a ventilator just feeds more oxygen to the virus.

I don't think your description fits scientific knowledge of how virus works within host cell. For one thing virus is not living organism that requires oxygen for cellular respiration and metabolism.

Right. Virus utilizes iron ions that are responsible for carrying oxygen in the blood.

As far as I know, the virus does not have the metabolism of its own. I would love to read about how this virus is uniquely different from other viruses in that it "utilizes" Fe ions. Any papers describing such unique viral activities?

Much more commonly, weeks and months from expiration by congestive heart failure is turned into hours by this virus.
How many of them are even being tested for this virus at all? Due to the testing shortage, unless their illness or death looked likely to be from this virus, they were not being tested for it.

Coroners investigating deaths outside hospitals haven't been getting anywhere near as many tests as they need. There are no uniform standards for marking the death certificates. In the absence of sufficient tests, when the coroners offices are seeing deaths under circumstances consistent with C-19, some are simply declaring to have been from C-19, while others are not because of the lack of resources to confirm.

So due to lack of resources, there will be numerous errors both ways. From what I'm reading, the undercounts should be exceeding the overcounts.

Victims are dying from lack of oxygen. Clearly there is a disruption of the oxygen transfer in the lungs. What is the mechanism for that transfer? Sheesh.

OK, cursory search found a paper (not peer reviewed) that describes this phenomenon. COVID-19: Attacks the 1-Beta Chain of Hemoglobin and Captures the Porphyrin to Inhibit Human Heme Metabolism
However, it is based on molecular modeling of binding affinity predicted from known virus genome to hemoglobin moiety in the red blood cells. While it is possible such interaction can happen, it's still speculative at best and concluding this is the main reason people infected with SARS-CoV-2 are dying would be an oversimplification. For one thing, if that was true, it still does not explain why only sub population of those who are infected are showing this symptoms.

I watched a video, they were saying the virus invades and kills cells lining the inside of lungs. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Or simply a disruption of gas transfer in the lungs. Scarring of the lung lining and fluid build up will do that. There or reports of patients losing 20% to 30% of lung capacity even after they have recovered from the initial infection.

They also kill or disable the lung's cilia, which normally sweep out mucous and debris:

"Larger eukaryotes, such as mammals, have motile cilia as well. Motile cilia are usually present on a cell's surface in large numbers and beat in coordinated waves.

    • In humans, for example, motile cilia are found on the respiratory epithelium lining the respiratory tract where they function in the mucociliary clearance of sweeping mucus and dirt out of the lungs."

who knows. But what is known, is the reason that Italy began backpedaling cause of deaths - days ago.
