Prius 2012 standard, Canada. Bought at 160K. now ODO: ~180K. Changed oil 6800km ago for 5W-20. 0W-20 was used before. June 30, 2017, Toronto, +30c. Driving in a city. Eco regime.

“CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM STOP THE VEHICLE IN A SAFE PLACE” message came up. With Orange triangle, Slip indicator sign, engine check sign and exclamation sign in a circle.

AC is working and all electrics too. Car is going ok. Starts/Stops.

Hybrid system does not work. Consumption monitor shows use of engine only. No regeneration. Drove it for 18 minutes home. While driving I can feel it’s hard for car to speed up. It feels like it couldn’t change gears.

Codes read: P0A7A (Powertrain / General Inverter Performance ) and P0A94 (Powertrain / DC/DC Converter performance).

People please let me know if you know mechanic in GTA to address this issue. I dont think simple deleting of codes will help.

    Thank you for any info.

I hope Canadians get this recall, sounds like the same problems the American cars are having

had this same problem when my inverter blew. Fortunately, I had the recall done. My understanding is they just replace a driver module, but I don't know if you can get that separately. They took good care of me

    UPDATE. happy one.

Warranty covered my codes and one of Ontario Dealers fix it up with no charge at all. Kudos to Toyota! my faith in brand restored!

    Cheers.

BTW 12v batetry dies in one month of stationary existence.

That is usually an indication it is dying. Many people have started having issues after jump starting one too. The 12V battery is not too expensive but you need to get a vented AGM one since you do not want it venting into the passenger compartment.

So what was the actual issue? My Prius 2014 showed the same errors today. I was driving using cruise control when the warnings came in and the cruise control disengaged. Hybrid system is not working, the car is running purely on engine now
