    Sorry for the multiple posts.

I thought I was responding to a personal message rather than this thread.

I used butt splicers (great name) that I got at a auto parts store down the street

Which really pissed me off because my local hardware store had the same ones for like three dollars less.

Anyways I used dual end butt splicers (I can't type that with a straight face.) And then wrapped it all in electrical tape because why not.

Ran techstream and boom fan works perfectly.

    SHAZAM

Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it from all of those who took the time to help me.

So called, it seems, because the two wire ends butt up against each other, rather than overlapping.

The preference is just to use the "Upload a File" button and add your image directly to the post. Inevitably, links to 3rd party sites always end up breaking.
Why not? Because over time and depending on environmental conditions insulation tape will end up an icky gooey mess. Secondly, if you do not have any exposed bare copper wire, then no need to. If you do have exposed wire, you've done it wrong.

If you want to waterproof it, use heat shrink.

In fairness, to use heatshrink, you have to think of it before making the splice.

Dipping the splice in Plasti-Dip can also protect it. (They have a clear version that lets you see how the splice is holding up.)

Rescue Tape works also, and doesn't do the sticky gooey thing.

So should I take the tape off?

    What should I do here?

Only did that because it seemed a good way to prevent moisture and such.

As for exposed wire I think one of the spliced wires had a tiny bit exposed

    Can't really remember
