Confirmed - Entune works 100% with my wife's iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1.1, via Bluetooth. No USB required.

I'll start a new thread with the details. Hopefully people will stop spreading misinformation.

But only if you have the HDD audio system. With the Display Audio system, the iPhone needs the USB connection for Entune to work. Here's Toyota's page on the two systems.

"Display Audio multimedia systems require all iPhones™ to be cabled to the USB port. This requirement allows the Display Audio Entune system to operate with full functionality and it also recharges all iPhones."

I posted that I had the HDD in my original post. Proximal wanted to argue that it doesn't work via Bluetooth & claims he called Toyota and they told him so. See above…

I think posts 41 and 42 have made it clear exactly how the iPhone works with the two different audio/nav systems.

Question for those in the know...

Right now (thanks to the tips on the forum) I am successfully using the Bluetooth on my Iphone 4 via the BT tethering Hotspot option without any issues.

Now this works great for short trips. But in anticipation of a long road trip...

Would plugging my phone into the usb port interrupt the connection and mess it up?

    Thanks in advance.

Issue is going to be the cell service along the route of the trip. To charge the phone, get a USB cigarette lighter charger. You can still run the iPod part of the iPhone via BT tethering without cell service. I run audiobooks on mine for long trips.

Plugging it into the USB has the chance of knocking the BT tethering out of whack. And the Prius USB charging is anemic. It shuts off if I plug in my iPhone Mophie case to the USB claiming the Mophie is drawing too much power.

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into getting a cigarette lighter adaptor? Any recommendations in regards to that? I am thinking of a "mini" version that won't take up a lot of space in the compartment.

I too have a mophie case; actually I found it was a knockoff, but works the same.

Not being all that tech savy, I have been using Samsung products with the stock head unit and have had no problems. Both phone and tablet sync up automatically when I start car. Use google play on my Tablet and google maps. I can even navigate my phone or tablet through my steering wheel buttons. This is the main reason I have not purchased a aftermarket head unit. Don't really need it for now.
