Both of our 4 touring are having uneven tire wear == both around 50k. We rotate with 10k oil changes -- both have Yoko tires (expensive replacement).

Our Gen 3's fives with the same size 17" tires last 90k ... yes .. we got 90k out of both of the OE sets .. and + 80k on the replacements. Neither has had any alignment -- perfect wear with 10k rotation .. now both over 200k.

There are many forms of uneven tire wear. Each has its own cause and solution. Can you post pics of your tire wear? If you don't want to post here, there are websites that will describe the different forms of tire wear, with illustrations, and give the solutions

They both have inside wear ... now the tires do have 50k on them. They are not dangerous -- but i'm going to replace them prior to winter weather. Also seeing a bit of cupping .. that's causing the noise that made me investigate.

i think you were fortunate to get 90k out of the gen 3's, it is unusual. i doubt oems are rated over 40k.

I'm not sure what the Yoko's are rated -- they are over $200. The Continentals have 60k on them and are amazing -- the Gen 3's are great cars.

The 4s are faster ..have more stuff ... are a bit quieter. But, actually like the Gen 3's .

Inside edge may be camber if on both sides. To me 60K or 5 years is the max I would ever leave tires on a car. Never kept tires that long so I can not verify that is normal.

    Tire pressure cold?????

I don't understand how you guys do it! Who can possibly get 60,000, 80,000, 90,000 out of one set of tires???!!
And did I just hear a vote for Continental? Which one please.

Bought a set of Pirelli at SAMS for my old 2011 and so far they are fine (no drop in MPG). Started a thread somewhere on it. However the touring tires are going to be a challenge to get one that gives the MPG that the 422s do. Be careful. Even consider buying only two for the back as that does not affect MPG the same way as the fronts do. Yokahoma makes some good tires.

Alternative solution is to trade very 3-5 years.

Problem is I do not see any significant changes to the Prius in 2019.

When I started moving the company cars to Prius -- Was at first shocked at how gentle they are with tires and brakes. All of our cars have the 17's. The earliest car went 90k on the original set -- my mechanic kept reporting all was fine and they still had tread above the marks at 90k .. I replaced them anyway, The Gen 3's all get 80k+ on the tires .....

That's why i surprised that the older Gen 4's with around 50k bth are having some odd wear issues ... all the same roads and drivers. we have zero issues with the Gen 3's

My math was wrong above with the latest continentals -- we did the first at 90k the next set went a bit over 80k (winter was coming) and that car now has 215k.

Love to see the factory alignment specs for the gen234’s, the 4 is lower to the ground, that changes toe in, and possibly Toyota is tuning for a more sporty drive, which might not have the tires flat on the road.

I have an ecodiesel with air suspension, from the low position to the high position is more than five inches, watching the front wheels castor angles is amusing.

So, is Toyota purposely tuning in a way that shorten tire life?
They are a daisy if they are.

If you're getting 50k from a set of tires, that is good. However, uneven wear is an issue. I had an with my 2009 with 17" wheel wearing on the inside. Same with my priv. Lexus LS460. I just assumed this is typical of how Toyota sets up their wheels for better handling. Japanese cars usually have inferior, crappy suspension and brakes compared to German cars. When it comes to cars, you get what you paid for.
I just purchased 2020 Prime in Jan. with recent 18" set up. After checking the camber with my digital angle tool, I did notice a rear wheel Camber out of spec. from the dealer delivery.
    Driver Front, -1.1*
    Pass. Front, -1.1*
    Drivers rear, -2.6*
    Pass. rear, -3.6*

I plan on lowering the car with a RSR lowering springs with a new alignment.
