$25K OTD on 2019 Prius LE with 6K miles

    I found a dealer offering me 25K OTD price for a certified 2019 Prius LE with only 6K miles.

    I need your help on deciding if this is a worthwhile deal.

    Before I was looking at 2017 Prius (Four Touring) but on further inspection it turned out to be in okay condition. Now I found a 2019 Prius LE with only 6K miles, practically brand new. It was a personal vehicle that was used for only (3) months.

    I went to test drive the vehicle and I loved it.

    Keep in mind this is a no haggle membership, so that’s the cheapest they will go. It’s $22K before taxes and fees.

    what do you think?

    I would think that after all the varied responses posted on your previous thread, you would be able to make your own decision.:)

    If you like it, and you can afford it, and you like it, and it's in "new" condition, and you like it, I'd say go for it. But only if YOU like it.

    Another thought: if you have done your research (which, IMO, includes a sit-down meeting with the dealership's service director/manager), and you're dealing with a well-respected dealership (they DO exist!), and no hidden fees jump up at settlement, you've made the right decision.

    I recently purchased 2020 Prius Prime LE and after tax credit, the price is below $20K... well more like $19K. Any deal on used PRIUS for more than $20K would be too much IMHO. But YMMV.

    ...and pricing is regional, of course. OP: Have you looked outside your region?

    I've done it both ways, flown and purchased new, discounted. My personal preference today, at age 65, is to buy from the dealer that will service the car. This has worked for me several times now, with NO REGRETS. I enjoy a strong relationship with the service director, who has gone out of his way on my behalf...several times.

    This is where I get confused, they stated if I am not paying the amount of taxes back of $4,500 then the tax credit is gone. How does it work?

    What price do you get the Prime to? Before tax credit?

    Tax credit reduces your fed income tax liability up to $4502 full credit on PRIME. If your tax liability is not high enough, you only get partial credit. So, year, if you don't pay enough fed income tax, then you can't get full amount of credit.

    That being said, in NE, PRIME sells much less than regular Prius due to a heavy Toyota rebate. Here was my sales price before tax credit. Since I traded in 2017 Prius PRIME, I paid very little sales tax (taxed on only the portion after trade-in value was subtracted).

    MSRP: $28,814
    discount and rebates: - $6500
    total: $22,314
    plus tax and title no doc fees

    Yeah, for $25k, you are practically in the ballpark for brand new I would think. Shop around for brand new at that price, even if you have to drive some 500 miles to get it.
