    Hi all,

Up until about a year and a half ago my key fob worked perfectly with my Prius. Then one day I pulled off the trunk hatch panel when trying to open the door. To the best of my knowledge, the wiring did not come apart. I duct taped it back on for a bit then got it fixed.

However, immediately after I pulled off the panel my 2006 Prius stopped responding to the fob. I could not unlock the doors with the fob or turn the car on with the fob. I had to manually open the driver door with the key and insert the key into the ignition slot to start the car. The key fob battery has been replaced and I've had the dealership work on the car multiple times trying to fix the issue with no luck. They said nothing short of a new computer (all the other electronics in the Prius work fine) will fix this, which I am not willing to pay for.

    Any thoughts here?

so if it's true that "it immediately stopped after you pulled off the back trim", then your problem lies in the back trim. I would check all the wires and fuses.

Did you fix it by using an OEM original part?

Not sure what you mean by an OEM original part, but I did have the work done at the dealership so I assume they got the original part?
