Update 2019 Prius Prime to Car Play

    I did some research this month on whether my 2019 Prius Prime could be software updated to include Car Play, which comes with the 2020 model. All signs seemed to point to "YES" so I scheduled an appointment. The service manager even confirmed the update as possible.

    They just called from the dealership, though, to say that only 2020's support Car Play and there's no way to update a 2019.

    Anyone know what the right answer is? If it CAN be updated, what can I tell the dealership to get them moving in the right direction. As I say, reading on the internet seemed to indicate that it was just a matter of the dealership downloading a patch, plugging a thumb drive into my car, and done.

    Thanks, that's disappointing, since there's probably no reason why the system cannot be updated. As I said, it's probably just a plug and play option. Well, here's hoping they change their mind.

    Get Techstream and find out. Theoretically, any software or patch the dealership can get you should be able to get\install with techstream. it's the know how of how to do it is the intimidating factor.

    As an apple nazi, I'm waiting for the Android Auto "update" and shun anything apple. If Toyota really cared, it would have been released WITH carplay. Toyota would have done much better sales and reputation wise with an Android Auto update since globally, Android does have a 87% market share.

    Am I right or just smoking weed here?
