Traction batteries low when on freeway

    Just for the record, what was referred to was a "grid" charger, of which the Prolong system from Hybrid Automotive is the most popular example. (Auto-correct strikes again).;)

    For me the charger by itself was enough, some others like the combo charger- discharger, I don’t think you need the discharger but it will come to personal preference but I tell you something if you ever need to rebuild you battery pack (replace a dead cell) you will be ready for the job with only the grip charger to balance the pack.

    I am getting more P0A9C after driving around all evening, not sure if temp related, or cinderella, but coming on about 12am or when the outside air gets in the 30's, the battery fan starts going full blast all the time, and the motor wont ever shut off. seems after awhile the computer decides to cut power to the wheel. wont stop doing this until i park for the night and try again tomorrow, although the batteries are showing in the blue.

    I think you are right about you battery starting to go bad, you described exactly what can happen when a cell in a pack dies, but if you have not done the hybrid battery cleaning yep go ahead and do it to see is that help.

    I had a thought that this may have happened when I had the vehicle sitting in the winter for maybe 3 weeks or a month when I had the steering knuckles off and waiting for new wheel hubs. Possibly the cold weather and not starting it for awhile kicked it over?

    Just recently I was getting a P3024, which tells me that module 14 is bad. On Dr. Prius, the internal resistance for module 14 is slightly too high. Also it jumps from always higher voltage than any of the others, to usually lower, when I step on the accelerator a lot.
    But when I did a load test on each individual cell, neither were all that bad, but the one next door, cell 26, seemed to be the worst, or one of the worst.

    It actually tells you one or both of the modules in block 14 is bad.
    You actually mean module, not cell as you cannot get to the cells due to them being sealed inside each module. There are 6 cells per module.

    Given that you have said that neither module in block 14 (modules 27 and 28) seems bad, I wonder if you are counting from the correct end.

    The count begins from the right side (opposite the ECU) and counts towards the ECU end as shown in the image below.
