I take one look at that big black grille and go the other way.

The Prime looks great all shined up:):

Yep - so, if you end up somewhere - like a holiday apartment - where you can't charge - it works just like a PRIUS, more or less.

I must disagree. I remember driving into the parking lot one morning and a car was coming toward me in the other lane. My first thought was “Why does that ugly Lexus have a Toyota emblem?” After it passed I looked in my side mirror and said. “Oh. It’s a Prime!” :(

Nope. I would buy a different brand before I got one of those designs.

I figure I'm inside - and what I see in front of me is of more importance than what's outside. At least a PRIME is nicer looking than all the Ugly trucks which seem to be getting more popular round here.

There is also what we call WAF. The wife acceptance factor. She looked aghast at a photo of the 2016 Corolla that had a smaller black grille than the Prime.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I don't think the Prime looks too bad. IMPO, it has a few small plusses over my Prius LE.... The head and tail lights looks better than mine. But myvrear windshield looks and functions better with a windshield wiper.

But anyway, if looks were my biggest concern, I'd have just waited for the Corolla Hatchback Hybrid to start selling in the US. That car blows away any Prius in looks. And still gets 50+ MPG.

Also when I bought my early 2017 the Prime was not yet available.

Well that's my excuse for not buying a Corolla Hatch Hybrid too. I only know how great they look because I saw one which not a Hybrid at our local Toyota dealership. Freaking sweet ! LOVE that car. Europe and Australia are so lucky to have that option.

Beside looks there's practicality. I'm already chafing, having to drive around with a painted plastic fairing for a front "bumper". With a Prime it acquires a brittle plexiglas garnish? I have my limits...

Yeah, surprisingly, I got positive comments about the Prime's interior and how it looks better than, say, the new RAV4.

I believe they are in the US now. We are still enjoying our 2008 Corolla but that was before uglification. My second car was a 1969 Corolla that met an untimely death in a freeway accident.
