Hidden LoJack

    How much do they charge to have Lojack install on Toyota Prius 3rd Gen? I heard was around $695.

    Reviving an old thread. My 06 Prius battery dies if I don't drive it in a week or so. The battery is fine, but there is a vampire draw somewhere. Previous owner purchased the car with LoJack. My guess is it certainly isn't helping the battery issue. Anyone figure out locations of where it might be?

    If requested, will Lojack remove or at least disconnect device power on a used car after transfer of ownership?

    There are lots of places on the car where you can tuck in a few more black boxes. If you like that kind of thing you can spend a lazy Saturday crawling around with a flashlight and see if you can spot something that does not look factory. There would be a certain speed, reliability, and efficiency in calling the company and setting up an appointment to do a hard disconnect. They should either have records, or have specialized equipment to find it with.

    Something you can do any time you are after a mystery load, is put a meter on the negative terminal of the battery and see if there is some small amount of current flowing when the car is off. If yes, you can extend wires so you can put your meter by one of the fuse boxes and then remove fuses one by one, making note of which one(s) stop or reduce the load.

    If you have the Smart Key System, that is always on, although you may have a button (Mine was way down on the dash near the steering wheel) to turn it off with. When it is off you will need the mechanical key to unlock the door.

    not a healthy 12v, with a properly working sks. have you been driving much? how old is the battery?

    look at the battery and fusebox connections, you'll often find a wire that isn't oem
