I just bought my second Prius and had expected to find a storage space under the rear deck/above the spare tire as there was on the Gen3 models instead of a lowered deck. I liked the hidden storage as well as the deck that was flush with the folded rear seatbacks.

Is there a kit or has anyone made a deck to level the deck and make a shallow storage space?

The TNGA platform which Gen 4 is built on required a "back to square 1" redesign - to great effect.

The car is dramatically better to drive, it's got more and more mature equipment, has significantly better aerodynamics - but a redesigned boot area to fit.

I'm glad to see im not the only one that was perturbed that Toyota wouldn't carry on such an ingenious feature on their latest and greatest. This was almost a deal breaker for me on the Gen 4. Now that I've remedied that, all is well and faith is restored. Next step will be dividers/cubbies to keep everything in its place. Now if only i hadn't opted for AWD and had an even open blank canvas. Flat.jpg Frame Overhead.jpg Rear D-Rings.jpg

Is that a quote Alan? Or a "mocumentary" style quote? My brain kinda seizes when I read it, lol.

No - an observation, having driven a Gen 3 and rejecting it as very inferior to drive compared with what I was driving at the time (FORD FOCUS), but when I drove a Gen 4, I figured I could live with it.

Are you suing the storage space below the cage? How warm do those cables and control unit get?

Seems like a separate protector should be made over the cables and unit to protect them.
