Backup camera works but silent

    Just got the car a few days ago. Is it normal not to have any sounds (beeps) as a proximity warning? My Nissan starts beeping at me as I get close to something.

    Yes. Your Nissan probably had sonar sensors as well and that was overlaid on the camera display.

    If you got a Prius Prime Limited, it would’ve been equipped with 12 sonar sensors around the car as part of the “Intelligent Clearance Sonar” system that will give you audible warnings (and visual ones on the small display) of objects around the car. Automatic braking at low speeds is included (<6mph) as part of the “intelligent” part of the sonar sensors.

    Thanks, after posting, my using the word "proximity" got me thinking. I don't have sensors on my LE. Should have figured it out myself.

    The many nice upgrades convinced us to move from our Premium to the Limited version... and we don't regret the decision.
