My phenomenal 2008 Prius has recently turned 402,000 miles. There have been no major
repairs, but MPG is much less. I was spoiled!! When I sent Toyota Corp a pic of the
odometer they were kind enough to send me congratulatory gifts. My Prius is simply
unbelievable. I had new front brakes put on last week. This is only the 4th time to
replace. Hoping I get 100,000 on them. Yes, she still has the original lithium battery
as well as all other original parts except those that fall under regular maintenance.
    Shouldn't there be a 400,000 mile club?

    Maybe rename this thread?!?
You’re apt to have quite a few people join you!
Here I am at a measly 340,000 miles on my ‘07 Touring. I probably won’t make it to 400k as my baby has cancer.

I'm assuming you mean original NiMH battery, since the Lithium battery was not available in the Prius until the 2012 Plug-In.

Out of curiosity, have you owned the vehicle since new?
Any way you slice it that's an impressive run.

You say MPG is MUCH less.
    Could you be more specific?
Unfortunately that could be indicative of challenges on the horizon that could curtail continuation of this run.

What would your plans be, if HV battery replacement became necessary?
Are you going to invest and keep going?

Don't mean to rain on a parade, but at 400,000+ miles, and 12 model years old, and ORIGINAL HV battery, and with reported reduction in MPG, I would think HV battery replacement is not too far off.
Just kind of wondering if the plan is to try for 500,000.

Have you ever had any issues with the A/C? Did you ever charge or did any service to the A/C?

How about the transmission - how often did you service it?

So sorry for such a long delayed response. Yes, I am the original owner - May 6, 2008 after a 6 wk wait while being
shipped. Yes, the mileage over the years has dropped to 35 MPG. That hurts!
No, I will not be doing a battery replacement. But I will try for the 500,000 while I look for another Prius.
I simply don't like the new interiors with the ski slope down the center.

No, I have never serviced my AC. Nor has it ever been suggested. I was extremely attentive to the tune ups,
coolants, oil changed (blend) at every 2500-3000 miles, drive belt, wheel bearings, etc. Housed in my garage
and driven 200 miles round trip daily to work.

I have no idea how to start the 400K club, but if anyone out there wants to, please include me!

Again, so sorry for such a delayed response. Fortunately I check in on my Prius more than this computer.

My transmission (if you mean the coolants) was serviced earlier than the recommended times by Toyota. I was doing
maintenance service most times way ahead. I kept a spread sheet so I could pull up the dates,
times, mileage under headings I set up and what was done/serviced. I have always felt Toyota's recommended times
are too far apart. I am old school! If the truth be told, I ended up with a jewel of a Prius. NO major repairs.

Toyota did have to replace the combination module (think thats what it was called) under the dash...... their problem
but not well noted to consumers unless we complained about our dash lights not working!. My great tech did
some heavy investigating and found the bulletin. Toyota repaired free of charge and a rental for 3 days.

So sad to see my Prius look pretty new yet get old.

The interior ski slope is the 3rd generation. The present generation is the 4th gen which doesn't have the ski slope but has other controversial design issues, inside and out. Maybe you can hang in there until gen 5 comes out, possibly about a year from now (if it ever does). do you still drive it 200 miles round trip for work?

Your experience fits with my impression that Toyota hybrids actually stay "healthier" if they are driven a lot. There are a lot of Priuses out there that are newer than yours that have had battery failure.

Yes, I am still driving (that is when the Pandemic laws are opened up) 200 miles round trip, about
    5-6 days a week.
Was burning oil, but dramatically improved with the addition of Lucas - 16 oz. per oil change. I agree
with the theory of driving a lot, and long distances.

Don't know about the V gen coming out, or if there will be sufficient changes to impress me. I am not looking for
a "sportie" exterior/interior. Just give me my old Prius.

Have you had any issues with valves on the 2010. I am looking to buy one - like tomorrow - but watched
a video on You Tube. The party did a review (good and bad) on all generations. On the 2010 he discussed the valve issue
and commented it was a major enough problem to stay away from purchasing the year 2010 Prius.

This would be considered an almost new car, extremely low mileage, but...... the valves? And don't know
    about waiting for the V.

Thanks for any help. Stay well.

What kind of gifts did they send, if you don't mind me asking?

Well, it wasn't a new Prius!! But I did receive a beautiful Toyota tote bag, a nine hour Toyota thermos
and a rain alertz umbrella. The gifts no doubt indicate I live on the road.
I was completely surprised. I understand my mileage on the Prius went higher up in the corp.
Nice of Toyota to recognize the accomplishment. Keep driving!!! and stay well.

    That's nice of them!
My whole subframe went out on my 2008 Nissan Rogue at 100k miles.
Nissan told me to pound sand even after making a corporate complaint.
Trading it off soon for another Toyota product.
