After just hearing from my dealer via email the other day that my Prius order had flipped ffrom to G status, my dealer called and said the car was here and I could pick it up today! Well, as murphy would have it, I was in a all day seminar, had not arranged my financing yet or arragned to add the insurance. Thanks to some mad scambling by my wife and a good Car financing friend, all arrangments were made and I picked up this new 2007 Touring Edition, package 6, magnetic gray beauty tonight. Needless to say, I was not as prepared as I would like to have been--did not have the Prius pick-up check list and a couple of other documents.

Everything on the vehicle looks great and I saw no problems with paint, finish, or equipment. The car only had 4 miles on the odometer. I did notice that the SOC (battery) indicator on the MFD only showed to purple bars on the lowwer half of the battery icon. What does this mean? I looked quickly thorugh the manual but could not find any help. Does it mean the battery is extreamly low? I was concerned about this since I thought the it was bad to ever let the SOC get low.

Well, now the learning can start with hands-on application! Too bad my work schedule is jam-packed until the weekend.

Yeah the purple SOC means the battery is low. Try to coast down a hill and brake at the end of the hill. That should get some energy into the car. Blue is the most normal and green is high battery.

Or just drive it and don't pay attention to the bars shown. The computer will protect the battery so you don't really need to worry about it. :)

    Congratulations and enjoy!

Ditto what Taco Mel said re: the battery. Just drive the car and the computer will take care of things (such as battery recharge) itself.

    Cool! Congratulations.

I agree with the remarks above; just drive the car and be sensitive to what it's trying to tell you. And if you do have questions, there are lots of answers here for you, too.
