IF....the install date is not shown on the top case, you're out of luck.
AND....most "warranties" that long are "pro-rated" after the first couple of years anyway and aren't usually worth messing with.

I was leaning towards getting the OE Truestart battery from the dealership anyways, so even if it's prorated, that would just be a bonus for me :D.

For the Truestart, does anyone know if the warranty is "reset" if a warranty replacement/prorated situation takes place?

IF there is no way to verify the "in service" date, there will be NO warranty.

true start warranty is from the date code if there is no in service date. that would be to toyota's benefit, not the user.
a search of your vin at toyota.com/owners may reveal a later install date, which would be better for you.

idk if you're going to get another 84 months if they honor the warranty or if they pro rate that as well.

I don't know why you're so stuck on there being no warranty... I understand that they wouldn't honor the warranty if I couldn't prove an install date. I got it from your first reply, no need to repeat yourself lol.

Anyways, I was able to find the install date (previous owner) from the Owner's page on Toyota's website. They did honor the warranty, although I had to pay half the battery's cost, as I was in the 4th year of the warranty (prorated period). I didn't mind though, since I had already pretty much decided on the Truestart, even before realizing I still had warranty on the dead battery. I would've been willing to pay the full $220 price.

To answer this question for anyone else that's curious; The warranty is reset upon a warranty or prorated replacement -- or at least upon a prorated replacement; not sure about free/non-prorated replacement but I would imagine it's the same -- the service advisor assured me that my battery's warranty would start over, even before I could ask.

I have a Super Start Platinum AGM battery from O'Reilly Auto Parts. It is their store brand. It is 6 years old. I had it tested by AAA at an event they were holding recently. They said the battery tested like it will last several more years. I'd buy it again. It is the typical $200 plus has a 25% discount available. I don't buy based on warranty.
