New RS-R T581D Springs for our Prime

I had those on my Gen 4 and ended up getting coilovers because the springs didn't go low enough for me. For tires I would get 225/40/18, since they are the close to OEM rolling diameter in size.

 

It's hard to judge fender gap because of the different size tires, can you take this measurement on flat ground
with as much accuracy as possible.

My guess is that the rear is lower than the front creating a reverse rake condition.

Thats why I only purchase tires as close to the OEM rolling as possible. So no matter what wheel and tire you go with the height will always be the same.

 

My new wheel and tire set up.
Wheel: FlowOne 18x8, 45 offset, 21lbs. Flow Forged Wheel.
Tire: General G-Max RS summer tire. 225/40x18. 21lbs. (G-Max AS is 23lbs.) In L.A. , I'm better with a summer tire. Plus, the RS
received a good wet reviews.

As expected, the new wheel set up is heavier. OEM set up with 15" and 195s were 35 lbs. The new set up is 42 lbs. +7lbs. in ea corner. Verified with a scale after the mount and balance.
45 offset provides approx. 1" out from the OEM set up. No rubbing. Flushed as you can see. I suppose one can still use spacers to bump out the rear. For me Flush is better. More conservative look. Yet, Not stock.
I've lost approx. 20-25% electric mode and approx. 4-5 mpg. in hybrid mode. However, I've gained more stability and solid handling. especially on the freeway. The car drives like a car now. Solid and stable.
My 2nd Gen. Prius had horrible understeer. Which was fixed when i changed the wheels set up with a 17" OEM Scion wheel. Compared to 2nd Gen., the 4th Gen. has better handling and does not understeer with 15" OEM set up. Overall, I much rather lose 4-5 mpg and gain a car that is safer.

I purchased the wheels on sale from TireRack. $170. Free shipping. The wheels came with installed aluminum hub ring adapter, 54.1mm to 73.1mm. Impressive. wheel lugs were included. I purchased another set of TMPS so I can keep the OEM wheels and tires entact. TireRack shipped the wheels pre-installed TPMS. Impressive. Which made it easier for the installer.
The tires were from America's Tire. Tires were shipped to my local shop (Glendale, CA) and installed and balanced for $20/ each. They did an excellent job of installation, balance and reprogramming the new TPMS from TireRack. No issue with the car recognizing the new TPMS.

Now, I need to decide on how to lower the car. Lowering springs or Coilovers. ???

Did you end up staying with the RSR spring set up?
How was the ride compared to stock springs?
Did the springs settle more? specifically in the rear. Where the heavier batteries are located.
Do you recommend this spring? or would you go with with coilovers?
