My key fob stopped working so I have been stuck using the manual hidden key and then holding it up to the power button. I guess that means the rfd part of it still works. The backup also didn't work, and 2 replacement batteries also. I had the 12v battery checked and autozone said it failed the test. I replaced it, but still no keyless entry and the 'no key' light is lit on the dash. I tried pressing the set button underneath the dash.

Is there any special procedure to reestablish the keys I'm missing in my search for a solution? Any idea if the key sensor is the problem and where is that exactly? I've read some comments that make it seem like its in the driver side door.

    welcome!
sounds like an odd and tricky situation. i would start by measuring the voltage of the new fob and 12v batteries. (low hanging fruit)

if everything is up to snuff, rent the service manual for troubleshooting the sks system.

I am having fob problems as well. When the first one failed I switched to the second one I got with the car. This one developed an interesting problem. It would not work first thing in the morning, I had to use the manual key for entry and then hold it to the start button, but then the rest of the day it worked fine. Now it too has failed. I think the only solution is to buy a new one and buy the software to program it to the car.

Of course I do fob batteries, that is the first thing to check. Since it works most the day it must be OK. It has 2.98 V. The car has 12.58 V, is that enough?
I was assuming there are two systems; the proximity and the buttons on the remote. Since neither one works I am assuming the fob is the bad part.
