I'm fairly certain I'm pulling the trigger on another Prius

It has a bad HV battery.

I have a Prius with a working HV battery.. can I just swap the bad one with my current good one and have everything work properly?

Generally speaking, yes. Be sure to clean up the HV fan while in there.

Does the vehicle currently run and drive?

Have you already ran the VIN at toyota, or grabbed a carfax?

    Not necessarily.
If the two vehicles are of the same "generation" then the odds are good.
If they are the same year, then you should be good to go.

Plan on doing all that when I'm there.

It apparently drives according to the owner.

I'm going to do a short test drove after doing a general check under the vehicle, the condition of the brakes, suspension and over all body of the car.

Will also check oil levels. My suspicion is this car has been sitting for a while so odds are he hasn't topped it off if that car is consuming it.

I'm going to also check CV joints for rips or leaking out of the boot.

That should cover it, and record any related INFs for the retrieved DTCs

    Findings were quite troublesome.

Please somebody give me your thoughts on this.

I checked this car over pretty well

The HV battery was so dead the car would not then on

I had jumper cables attached to the 12v so I could get the car on

When it attempted to start there was just a hard thud and the electronics stayed on

There were probably 14 codes most of which looked to relate to the HV battery.

However there were misfire codes for cylinder 3 and 4

I asked when the oil had been changed. Owner said 1k ago it'd been changed and topped off recently.

I checked the oil level.... None in the car. Not that I could see on the dipstick. Zero.

I noticed residue on the pan. Like caked up black oil. I did not notice anything dripping from either the pan or the filter which appeared to be newer. However generic looking as if done at a quick change place.

I check the car for rust and none to be found on the body, but near the assembly for the rear passenger side looked like it'd need to be addressed. Quickly.

Car had dents, scratches... Cosmetic issues inside all minor for the most part

Was told 950 would get it sold however I'm thinking 500 is where this needs to be for me to touch it.

I have the codes that I can list if that's help diagnose this cars issues

I think this engine might be shot though.

There is value in the cat, assuming it still exists, and possibly more.

Without hearing the engine actually run, or at least spin and turn over, this could be a pass.

If you happen to take another look at it, see if it has thrown a rod :

I didn't notice any pools of oil under the car

However I didn't really look to see if any holes were in the engine

However the body of this car isn't in good enough condition for me to merit a swap and a HV battery

If it was in perfect condition... Sure.

However the risk involved with this is just too high

If I was offered it at scrap value...sure

    Also has a salvage title

Which was not mentioned to me in the ad

    Think I'm good lol
