I lost all my keys to my 2013 prius. I bought a new key fob. I have a key programmer, but when I try to put the car in IG-on the smart buttons led doesn't light. I cannot wake up the ECM to use the key programmer. I tried turning the courtesy light on and off as suggested by Toyota documentation. That doesn't work. I checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood. No problem there. The battery is fully charged. Horn and lights work. Nothing else. Any suggestions on how to wake up the ECM would be helpful.

    Have you called a Locksmith?

    What’s a “key programmer”?

I’ve paired a new fob to my Prius using the dealer software (Techstream). But even that required that I had at least one functioning fob. I don’t know how you’d coax the ECU into standby without a previously paired fob.

I’d call locksmith and/or the dealer and see what they say.

You can call a mobile locksmith. They know you’re desperate so they’ll charge you $350+. I hate it but it easier than having the same service done at dealer (after having it towed). Don’t ask about if you need Title and they won’t ask if you have it... Just show insurance if they ask...
