So i think I'm loosing my mind but i could swear that when i got my Pri V it beeped and locked doors once when i would touch the door handle or remote. For some reason now it locks the doors twice and no beep on locking. It also locks the doors twice whenever i put it in drive now also. Is this normal?

Doesn't sound normal to me. I get the one beep and the lock on the door handle... never have actually touched the remote other than to put it in and out of my pocket. As for the putting into drive, locks once as well.

Doesn't seem normal to me either. Based on what mine does and what the manual says it should beep once when it locks, either by touching the handle or using the fob, twice for unlock. It shouldn't lock twice if you only lock it once either.

You could just take it in and let the service department fix it. If it were mine I would try reprogramming the locks IAW the owner's manual and see if that helps first.

What do you mean by locks the doors twice?

FYI--there's an entire chapter in the owners manual on customizations that can be done by the dealer (auto locking/unlocking, reverse beep, seatbelt chime, light flash & chime on lock/unlock, etc.). I'd suggest reviewing it and bringing a list of things you want changed to the dealer when you have them look at this issue.

    Thanks for the help guys!

So i found the problem. :D

I had the windows tinted a few days ago and I guess the rear passenger door locking button was stuck from when the tinter pulled the top of the panel to get the tint in and caused the locking button to get stuck. The car was trying to lock twice as it sensed the rear door was not locking. I found out by trying the rear doors after i locked them that the rear passenger was still unlocked while the driver rear was locked. I took the door panel of and double checked everything and put it back together and now it works like before. Beep and flash on lock with locking once. :)

I was reading the responses here with the hopes of solving my issue. I am having the same problem on my 2010 prius. I too recently had my windows tinted. But I am having no issues with any of the door locks sticking. In fact, they are working perfectly. But have lost the single beep when locking the doors. I still get two beeps when unlocking. I also get the double lock when I put tje car in gear. The smart key isn't working as it was. When I walk up the the drivers door, the inside light would illuminate, that does not happen now.

I would appreciate any thoughts / suggestions. Thanks

It's possible the tinter might have disconnected a wiring harness when they tinted the window and forgot to reconnect it.

Call them and ask if they do remove panels and disconnect wiring harnesses when tinting windows and your problem. They might be willing to take a look at it.

Hopefully, the SKS antenna didn't get damaged.

I own two prius's 2010 and 2008. What this is, is your car cannot fully lock. One of your door lock actuators is faulty and will not move your unlocked door into the lock position. Your car is locking the remaining functioning locks, but it cannot set the alarm, because one of your doors is still unlocked.

As prius's get older, their automatic door actuators fail. There is a little motor inside them that quits. I have replaced 3 doors and 1 hatch on my 2010 that were faulty. Now my passenger rear door is doing it. I have had this problem in the past so I know what to look for.

it you cant make your car beep when you lock it. Place your key faub away from your car. Now go and check all your doors. You will find one of them will be unlocked. If there is not one unlocked, it maybe half way inbetween. Now open your car and inside lock all the doors. Check to see they are all locked. Now using the door lock inside, unlock them, you will find that one of them will not open. That's the one.

The whole part is around $300 and another $150 to change. There is a great prius owner on here, that pointed us all to the motors that you can buy from China for about 5 dollars. Thats what I did. I replaced all my motors in my actuators for under $20. Just find someone who can help you and do one yourself. You will need a solding gun to solder a couple of leads, but other than that, its just being meticulous that you open and close it properly.

    Thats it. Its an actuator.

    Best Regards
