First post. Someone please correct me if I am doing anything wrong. I started by doing a lot of searching and reading. I have that issue with the hid lights going out. My question is how do you know if your lights are on? I rigged a piece of fiber optic cable from the front of the lens to the dash. It's just proof of concept for now with tape. I'm considering drilling a .003 hole into the headlight (maybe with a hot needle), but worried about moisture getting in. What are other options for this? fiber optic inside.jpg

    Welcome to PriusChat!!

Genius idea, is that for both sides?

Was able to solve my intermittent HID issue after buying a pair of new bulbs for $12 online, but YMMV.

I will do as you suggest and install new bulbs, but after reading all the comments l'm not convinced that will be a long term fix. I only did the drivers side but I will install another fiber optic cable for the other side too. I like knowing that the lights are on.
I have been reading this site about 4 years since I first got my Prius. I love the hack to activate the reversing camera. I did that one to monitor the trailer and I added another switch at the same time to include the back up lights.
