Does Toyota prius 2013 has a fan ( tensioner ) belt ?

    Hi , I am wondering , has my Toyota prius 3th gen 2013 model has any fan belt ? because the other day I opened the bonet to check the oil level and i was looking to check the belt condition but i could not see any belt on crankshaft pully and I could not see any alternator . does anybody know ?

    No, there is no accessory belt on the 3rd gen Prius.

    Thanks for reply . so why there is a pully on crankshaft and how the A/C working without a belt ?

    A/C is electric so that it can work when the petrol engine is not running.

    I'm not sure but the pulley is either there to provide balance (help the engine run smoother) or is there because the same engine is used in non hybrids where a belt is used. Bottom line. don't worry about belts in a 3rd gen Prius.

    It's kind of both. They do need something to stick on that end of the crankshaft that will damp vibrations and make a good fit against the timing cover oil seal ... and it turns out they have a lot of parts around that meet those exact criteria, and they look like pulleys.
